I just purchased and installed WoW. I downloaded the 1.8 full patch from a mirror. When I try to apply the patch it errors out saying "Prepatch encountered an error..." standard error message.

Anyone have similar problems?
 
Nope, but i'll PM you a different link to a private mirror of the patch, perhaps you got a bad copy of it.
 
Put the patch I DL'd into the wow directory and ran the Bittorrent patcher. Seems the patch I had wasn't complete/had errors so the blizzard patcher overwrote em. Blizzard updater is running as I type this.
 
BigPoppa, make sure you are getting the FULL patch, it should be over 200mb for the 1.8 one. there are various incremental patches floating around the net. Not to mention corrupt ones, which you may have found.
 
Yeah, its the full deal. I DL'd a corrupted one. Then put it in the wow directory and let the Bittorrent patch downloader rewrite the bad parts of the file. Worked perfectly. Got to lvl 7 last night on my dwarf war.
