just wondering now that everyone should have had a chance to play by now

as for me definitely

i have wanted to play for quite awhile now and am definitely loving this game 🙂

Looks good, I had 3 crashes with vertical sync on. Kind of pissed me off. But the world is huge and the visuals are great.

No. There's just nothing new or different about it. Feels like I'm playing DAoC again.

I'm an old school MMO player. Started in 1997. To get me to buy another one of these after years of UO and DAoC sprinkled with some AO and EQ and SB and CoH, you really need to summon up something fresh. For new MMO players, this is the perfect game to play since it's effectivly third generation and they had the benefit of learning from two generations of MMOs so they managed to avoid most of the big mistakes. But for veterans, there's just nothing to get excited about. We need something different than kill-level-group-kill-level.

I'll play through Open Beta and try more classes and races, but, as it is, I won't be buying.

I'm in the beta but it all depends on how much it costs per month, does anyone know?

14.99 / month
13.99 / month (3 month required)
12.99 / month (6 months required)

I played UO during college and right after college before I started working. That was when I got the most from it. I was a part of the elite crowd and experienced so many crazy situations. It was a great way to kill time while I was killing time. Now, with a full time job and a family, I'm just some lowbie shmuck asking somebody's alt if they'll group with me for a half hour before I have to log.

That statement hits the nail on the head. I only like to play games if I can get really good at them..but I also like games that I can just hop into and leave when I please...where as in an mmorpg, you HAVE to stick around to enjoy what the game has to offer

I was in the last stress and this open beta. I'll definitely be buying it. I think it's a great game. Blizzard did a fantastic job. 🙂

I don't think i'd be playing enough to justify paying that much per month (plus the $50 initially). I'm enjoying the open beta right now, but I don't think I will continue when the actual game is released.

I was only able to play for about an hour last night. I was inthe middle of trying to sell some loot when the game crashed and I decided to go to bed. Never did figure out how to sell the stuff . . .

meh. I know I'm not going to be able to compete with the 40+ hour/week power gamers. That's not going to keep me from playing an otherwise great game. It will take me a lot longer to reach the higher level content but that doesn't bother me because I have no desire to take part in the elite player pissing contest.

got the game at 2:00 AM today... have been CONTINUOUSLY playing till the time of this post without a single crash. I think that should show you how much I liked the game. 🙂 This semester of mine is fvked!

Absolutely agree. I really want to play it, but have not the time needed to invest in it.

I'll probably keep playing until the game goes retail, but wait to buy it until after xmas. Not because I don't enjoy the game, but because there are way too many other games coming out over the next ~2 months that will require my attention. That, and EVERY mmorpg's opening 6 months require that the game suck while they work out balancing issues and add content. I'm not going to work on a character for months just to have him nerfed and start all over again (which has happened to me in daoc, galaxies, EQ, and already in EQ2). PVP is also a big factor for me, so I want to see how that develops. Right now, they need to overhaul all crafting and add a better navigation system. The cities seem to be lacking something...and so far, I've seen very little incentive to grouping (at lvl 15 hunter, 10 mage, & 6 rogue).

It's not just the status thing. You'll be level 50 just like all the elites some day, but nobody is going to know who you are cause you're just some guy who pops in periodically. When you play full time, people get to know you or your character's personality and you get to know theirs. THAT is what deliniates an MMO from a co-op game. And, frankly, developers don't care if guys like me play these games because their revenue comes from hardcore players with multiple accounts who play religeously for years because of the friends they make in the game. If I'm gonna play a co-op game, I'd prefer something where the action is fast and furious.....hopefully Guild Wars.

Yep, that's pretty much it for me as well. I started playing Asheron's Call right after I graduated college when I moved to a new town and didn't know anyone. My first stab at a MMORPG quickly turned into an addiction to just make it to the next level. Considering I'm getting married in May, I don't just think I want to invest as much time as I did in the first go around.

Open beta has been lagging like a biatch for me so probably not. Don't know if it's the UCSD connection or something else.

Some jack a$$es are trying to make a buck on the open beta selling accounts they created. One guy bought one for $20.50!!!

Just search ebay for "Open beta" or "Warcraft open beta"

what losers

Yeah I wish it were a $10.00 flat rate instead of all the different tiers. I can hock up $10.00 a month for something that is good. If I spend more than 5hours on it in a month. Then I think it is worth it.
