WOW, nVidia's stock gained 20% so far today!

That's because investors don't care about competitors $400 parts - enthusiast market is very small. The jump is due to the NFoce very high profile deal with Compaq business PC (and the whole market is rallying too).

Good news for AMD, too.

Yep. I kew nForce would be big in the OEM sector. I'm glad to see Compaq and others right in there. Bring on that nForce2, boys! 🙂

Now it just has to gain 600% more to regain its heyday highs.

The stock price has little to do with the product.
Earnings, projections, capitol, overhead, and creative accounting dictate stock prices.

LOL, I just re-read it and it looked like everything has nothing to do with the stock price😕

Due to your punctuation, I could not figure out which things DO and which DO NOT affect stock prices.... 😕

Started slowly buying when NVDA broke under $10 few weeks ago. Take advantage of panic selling, especially with a stock like this. An obvious leader in the computer industry who has actual earnings and products. Not to mention a big relationship with MSFT as well.

nvidia should be ok. of course i bought at 37 because i though tthey had solid fundamentals etc.

i wish they would just build an nforce board for p4. they would make quite a bit of money with that.

Rimshaker,

Their "big relationship" with MSFT is in "big trouble". They are in arbitration over the current Xbox deal which does not bode well for any future bidness. A big hunk of their profits came from that deal and another big hunk from selling low-end discrete chips when Intel did not have any integrated ones available for the P4. Their real good fortune was filling the gap left by the last graphics company du jour that went down in flames. Now they are having trouble competing on the whole range and had to write-off a bunch of inventory -I assume because it cannot be sold at a profit without further hurting the pricing on their other products. Plus, I believe they are down to two major customers for their discrete chips as others have gone exclusively to competitors or gone out of business. So don't get blinded by past short-term glories, or even whether you like their products.

I don't see anything impressive about their earnings or growth potential. They dropped 4.x% today - closed at 12 and change. It is rated as mostly a "hold" stock, small moderate buy and no strong buy ratings.
