PUh-leeze. Colbert is comedy. He has greater license, particularly when he's poking fun at his own persona.
Colbert is an entertainer. Limbaugh is an entertainer. Colbert is a dedicated left winger pushing a left wing agenda. Limbaugh is a dedicated right winger pushing a right wing agenda. There is no difference except one is on radio and one on television. Well, and maybe that one gives you a stiffy and the other gives you a foaming spittle fit.

Some of you don't seem to understand the tone and context. He wasn't just joking with the Chinese in good fun. He was being hateful. And he literally seems to think Mandarin is a nonsense language.

it is sad we have to explain humor to some people. colbert comes from a place where we don't think he is malicious, furthermore he is parodying his own character which was a parody to begin with.

limbaugh was doing sh*t i remember elementary school kids would do, literally, before they grew some sense to know better.

Right. Colbert is doing humor because he "comes from a place where we don't think he is malicious." Limbaugh is doing hate speech because he no come from place. You betcha.

Please don't try to think with that brain, let alone try to explain your attempts.

Gotcha. Left is all in good fun, right doing the same thing is being hateful. Probably because of that place thingy.

Hey, at least you guys don't pretend to have the slightest hint of objectivity.

Multi-crapolaism doesn't work. Everyday I hear this kind of BS about some idiot being racist to another.

It creates a bigger problems. There's no harmony.

That's not what it is about at all. It's about saying you're a comedian and saying you are a sooth sayer. Rush wants to be serious, therefore you take him seriously. The only things you take seriously about Colbert are the points that hit home and hit your laugh button.

Rush sells himself as serious, that opens yourself to scrutiny. If he sold himself as comedy, most people wouldn't listen because he isn't funny. He's a bloated, self-righteous ass that deserves all the criticism leveled his way.

Sometimes I wonder when Rush Limbaugh and his supporters will assimilate into American society.

I sometimes wonder why folks would care to hear a man who destroyed his hearing with his addiction....

\that he didn't do the old "toss metal plates down" to name a chinese baby....

You obviously don't listen to Limbaugh, he's a pretty funny guy. But I look at it just the opposite. Colbert hides behind being a comedian while making fun of the right, trying to shift the country left. He makes his digs every day, but if he catches heat he says "hey, I'm just a comedian." Limbaugh admits he wants to shift the country right, but has to be entertaining to do so - else no listeners. He makes no bones about being an entertainer as well as a serious pundit. Which one is being more honest?

But either way, behavior is what it is. Claiming that one side is okay because he's a comedian whilst the other side is a self-righteous ass for doing the same thing is simply dishonest. It's conditional ethics - if I like the person doing it then it's just parody in good fun, if I don't like him it's offensive. Not cool.

I suppose I take them equally seriously. Anyone who listens to someone else to confirm and validate their ideas is kinda loony, and those are a lot of viewers. If you wanted to you could probably argue that Colbert is the younger generation's Rush, and it'd be hard to argue against you.

That's roughly how I see it. If I hear something on Limbaugh then I know it is slanted toward the right, regardless of the true facts which may or may not favor his viewpoint. If I see something on Colbert then I know it is slanted toward the left, regardless of the true facts which may or may not favor his viewpoint. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who get their news from Rush or from Colbert/Stewart - in fact, if memory serves the largest source of news for the young is the Daily Show. Problem is, you know how it is slanted, but not how much it deviates from reality.

That's why you watch both CNN and fox news, cross reference and end up as ignorant as you begin. if any real news was going down in America, I'd see it on the BBC, aside from that it's interesting "did you know" and not much else. I know what happens in my life, and it doesn't happen on the news, if it did I would be unlucky indeed.

Limbaugh, the gift that keeps on belching, farting, belly jiggling, triple chin flapping and ching-chong-chinging. Got'ta love the guy, ya know?

Like Palin, O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck etc. they're getting to be old news and knowing it, so they constantly out-do themselves, getting more and more outrageous, just like a typical soap opera has to, to keep their viewers/listeners tuned in.

Sad in a way, yet who knows? They'll find something to make people notice them, it's just that the magic is gone. But like the proverbial broken record they all become, they go on and on and on and on ad nauseum.

Did you listen to the clip?

There's a big difference between politically incorrect jokes and racism. If you can't tell Rush is being hateful toward the Chinese and not making fun of ethnic differences like every comedian does, it would have to be because you lack basic social skills. Asperger's maybe?

In our society it usually breaks down like this....

Acceptable to make racist comments against:

Asians
Whites

Taboo:

Africans/Blacks
Jews

Arabs are touch and go. Comedians should probably leave them alone.

Awhile back women started suing and winning big dollar discrimatory lawsuits against businesses and corporations. In response to this, the company I worked for had everyone go through diversity training. The take home lesson I got from the course was that because something did not offend me did not mean it did not offend anyone else.
