honestly?! that adds a whole other element to the equation...I agree with you. At bare minimum it should be the rest of the season and a $10,000 per game fine.
 
Based on the descriptions here, I'd say banned for life from the NFL, fines, and prison time for assault.

Unfortunately, the NHL went retarded and allowed him to play the 2005-06 season. Bertuzzi ended up missing only 13 regular season games. THIRTEEN.
 
Players are out of control this season. I haven't even watched much football so far this year but I've seen more spearing, trash talking, cheap shots, and unsportmanslike conduct than I ever have. The penalty? Usually 15 yards and that is it.

NFL needs to get off its ass and start actually using their ability to hand out suspensions and hefty fines, and the refs need to start throwing out some ejections.

It's not as bad as you make it out to be. Ejections are used for the most severe unsportsmanship conduct -- like what was done today. The punishments and fines are apt and NFL looks at the plays and will judge adequately if fines/suspensions are warranted.

Well he is bigger than Lomu then, fair enough, but I could go get you an even heavier guy and we could do this all day. I guess NFL players do carry more weight - but does that really make them stronger or tougher? I'd take muscle mass and fitness over pure weight any day.

Actually I'd love to see a grudge match between Rugby union, Rugby league, Aussie rules, and NFL at some compromise between the 3 games. Maybe a form of rugby but without the forward-pass rule. No wussy armour of course 😉

to a point it is part of the game. but what this guy did was so far above that. to rip a helmet off a player and stomp on his head while he is down is unescusable.

this guy should be home for the rest of the season (without pay and possibley fines per game)

 
Ok I think some of you guys are overreacting. Banned? I mean, it was a malicious thing to do, but haven't we seen those before?

Besides, we don't even know why he did it. He was probably mad at something, but we don't know what. Has he been in trouble before? I've never heard of this guy until today. You have to think about the circumstances surrounding the event.

He will no doubt be suspended for at least a few games if not the remainder of the season, and be fined heavily, but a lifetime ban just sounds outrageous.

I live in the Nashville area, am a huge Titans fan, and am a huge fan of the college where Haynesworth played football (Tennessee). Even I think he needs to be punished severely.
