WOW Netscape 7.1 is amazing compared to IE and Outlook combo

I havent used netscape since 3.01 gold and I must say I am very impressed now thatI tried it again, it completly blocked all my pop ups and the mail client works so much faster I have a good 2000+ emails in my inbox and outlook would be deathly slow when going from folder to folder in my mailbox but this thing is SPEEDY!!

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I was having a temporary problemw ith IE thats why I tried netscape as a temporary solution but ever since I fixed IE I havent used it. I LOVE the tabs at the top of the window in netscape, and that pop up blocker works wonders!

I am seriously very impressed

(hope I didnt just jinx netscape ) *fingers crossed*

I agree. It rocks. I've always preferred Netscape, but now, they fixed a couple of quirky things I didn't like in previous version 7 releases, and it's really fast. I never moved my e-mail from my old NS 4.79 when I was using ver. 6.x or 7.0x, just because I didn't want to get into a new program, but I'll probably give that a try, too. 🙂

And yes, the pop-up blocker is great.

AOL fired the netscape development team yesterday. Netscape is dead, you're going to have to turn to Mozilla (which is what netscape is based on, anyway).

I've been impressed by it as well, although I don't actually use it, I use Mozilla (basically the same thing). I love it for the features you described above and the overall stability compared to IE. It's strange, but some people I've shown the netscape/mozilla email too, think it's wonderful. But they want the pretty html backgrounds you can get in outlook so they use that instead.......

I hate that HTML email stationary. :|

If Netscape 7.1 ran Yahoo Companion and even loaded up a bit faster initially, I'd use it.

But it doesn't, and it doesn't.

IE6 with the Google Toolbar 2.0 beta is great.

Maybe not. That was noted in an earlier thread in the Software forum. I posted this reply:

Looks like changes are coming, though. On their site, Mozilla.org announced the Mozilla Foundation:
The Mozilla Foundation is a new non-profit organization that will serve as the home for mozilla.org. As before, mozilla.org will coordinate and encourage the development and testing of Mozilla code. The Mozilla Foundation will also promote the distribution and adoption of our flagship applications based on that code. AOL, Sun Microsystems, Red Hat, and other companies will continue to support Mozilla through the Foundation.

What this means for the Mozilla browser and our other products and technologies: more innovation from the open source developers, and a greater focus on end users.

Read the press release and our newsgroup announcement.
This paragraph in the press release gives me some hope:
To help launch the new organization, America Online has pledged $2 million in cash to the Mozilla Foundation over the next two years. AOL will also contribute additional resources through equipment, domain names and trademarks, and related intellectual property, as well as providing some transitional assistance for key personnel as they move into the new organization.

If I ever get an email with that stupid crap in it again, I am going to repeatedly beat the person over the head, once I can see them in person that is. Biggest waste of bandwidth ever.

care to elaborate on the " But it doesn't, and it doesn't. " part?

This is upsetting hearing that they have been fired, I finally am HONESTLY very impressed with an application software that didnt cost a couple hundred bucks ie photoshop, windows, office, autocad all which I have paid much for.

I shall ahve to look into this Mozilla software you mentioned. I have actually been hearing from people that redhat 9 is amazing. I may take the linux endeavor soon.

Glad to hear all you guys are int eh same boat I am, good stuff.
