Just got a phone call from my cousin, my 67 year old uncle slipped on ice on his driveway a couple of weeks ago & fractured his skull, developed Guillian Barre syndrome, was rehabing (with a significant brain injury & residual deficits-memory fscked, confused, etc) & dropped over dead yesterday during a therapy session:(

He was really cool, had a new Pontiac Firebird convertible (manual tranny), and a 4X4 Dodge diesel pickup, had remarried 10 months ago, built a new nice house, several years after his first wife died from breast cancer.

He always had time for me & we talked about everything when we got together. I wish his funeral wasn't 1K miles away.

He will be missed:(

LOL, let me tell you a secret, the older you get, the more women there are, guys drop dead pretty frequently compared to women, if you make the cut & don't die young, you have to beat them off with a 2X4 to get some peace & quiet.

The older guys that I know that are even a little bit social & have even a little $, have a flock of widow women chasing them, offering food & Viagra enhanced geriatric sex:)

My uncle was cooler than most, evidenced by the manual tranny Firebird...

Gawd, that's a horrible way to go. Sorry to hear about your loss.

My favorite uncle passed away a just after Christmas this year. My supervisor couldn't understand why it mattered to me so much, since he wasn't "immediate family". Hell, he was at least as important to me as anyone in my immediate family! Treated me like a son, and taught me a lot, from the time I was a baby till now. Believe me, I KNOW how much of a loss an uncle can be! :(

I concur. Just because they're not your immediate family doesn't make them not your mom or dad's immediate family. Aunts and uncles are highly underrated.

I'm sorry pliablemoose.
