.........WOW.....My SUNON 84.1cfm Fan Almost Killed ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO!!!! I've never done something that bad. Had my hands inside my system when it's turned on and jabbed the Cpu fan a few times. I never learn though, is like the simpsons where Bart keeps grabbing the electified muffin 😀!

i plugged my delta 80mm SHE into a power supply lead after replacing it with a much more mundane fan to see how much quieter the new one was, and of course i stuck my finger into the thing, just to see how bad it hurt. no bleeding or bruising though.

I haven't looked at the one that cut my finger since it happened............. There's some blood on it....... Like Conan holding his bloody sword after battle.

Unfortunatly, I lost the battle.

Yup, it's in my room....but my current box is relatively loud, but I like the noise in the background when I sleep, so it doesn't bother me.
HOLY SHNIKES! I thought I was the only one that did that! I fried my hard drive last weekend (be careful how you mount SCSI drives in a HDD cooler btw) and couldn't sleep Monday night, so I turned my computer on, let it post, and just sit there so that the fan was going on the CPU. Ahhhhh. Sweet, blissful sleep.

But I should mention that I only have one 92mm Panaflo H1A running. 4 of those Sunons would drive me insane.

......very trus sseth, very true. Sitting on the floor, poking around..........ahhhhhhhhhhhh.............

Whew..... horrible flashback.:Q

This post has had a really bad effect on me ... I've taken apart an old Pentium machine and here are some of the cool things I've discovered so far... MTV Jackass aint got nuthin on me!

Holding a powered up 60mm fan between ur teeth can really leave u breathless (kid u not, I felt my lungs go empty). My jaws started aching within a few seconds becuz of the effort to hold the thing steady and not get my tongue ripped to shreds.

Which one is stronger - soda can or fan blade? Answer: soda can.

Microwaving a CD is REALLY COOL! Set the timer for 3-4 seconds and watch the little electrical storm go around the circumference of the CD. For best effect, turn the lights off. I'm gonna patent this technique 😀

Without the heatsink, a Pentium processor cook can a couple of drops of egg yolk in approx. 3 mins 55 seconds, depending on how its been running.

Touching the electro-magnetic shielding near the laser eye of an CD drive can give a shock as powerful as the one I recieved nearly 9 years ago ... it still works.

The average IDE cable can support atleast 145 pounds - dang!

Baking a RAM chip in the oven makes it bubble up all funny.

I would have tried more my girl nearly busted my head open at 5:00am.

Need more experiments ... is my health insurance paid up?

What are you guys doing? bucking for a Darwin award nomination 😛

lol, here in the office we have several radio controlled airplanes and helicopters for our own enjoyment. then one day, one of my fellow co workers decided to take the propeller apart and hook it up to a battery. to say the least, i heard that thing spin up with a vengeance and it nearly took his head off. he was lucky when he dropped it that it became disconnected from the battery.

Last 3 experiments ... and no one becuz all the parts are now in hardware heaven/hell

I touched the hard drive platter of an old 7GB while spinning (I had tried to mod it w/ a window but it looked like crap). The skin feel kinda smooth and funny and maybe a little burnt and frictionalized.

The motherboard broke while twisted at a doward angle of approx 30-35 degrees.

If u set the PS from 115 to 220/240, it cooks itself and blows the fuse.

This is the most fun I've had with computer hardware in a while.

Cool tests Vonkhan. It's good to see you survived your little experiments without a scratch. Too bad you couldn't videotape em and post em for us to see.

yeah, that'd be awesome

Hmmm, broke a$$ that I am, I dont even own a video camera! All I have a tinky lil' Digital Jam Cam that retails for $39.99 😛 However, I could get one from the University's Audio Visual Dept ... and maybe the Information SYstem Dept. or someone has some old "donatble" computer lying about. I could give them a fitting thee farewell 😀 😀 😀 If I taped it, how put I put up the clips on the forum? In what format should I record them? My ATI TV VE card can record in MPEG, AVI and Windows Media. Is there any free video server thingie that'll host my clips? Which ones would u REALLY wanna see? 😎

Best post EVER!

The scary thing is... he was probably serious...

HAHA, I had like a 5000 RPM fan on my CPU, and accidently nicked it with my thumb when working in the case (while it was on like a moron) blood splattered everywhere, and I had a deep and slow healing cut to live with. There is still dried blood splatter inside that case today!

I've hit fingers in different fans over the years, never any problems until I touch a SUNON fan, I swear, they sharpen those things. They really do take a nice chunk of flesh when they get going 🙂

It took you 3 months to write that? 😉

I had a 128MB Micron SDram chip Blow a surface mount capacitor and start burning and billowing smoke... This was on a BH6 while it continued to run...:wine:

Fans are whimpy compared to more complicated solutions. :Q

When you have pure ammonia, parts that spin at 60,000 RPM, and SPL of over 125 dBA with the aural control systems removed, you better know what you're doing!

-DAK-

~85cfm ... I wonder if you hooked a bunch of them up together in a grid if you could get a laptop to hover ... I'm gonna go make a post in the Highly Technical forum about this now ... 🙂

PS -- thanks for the thread digging! 🙂

LOL All the more reason NOT to use high-powered fans - I don't want fans inside my case that double as lethal weapons / homicidal maniacs!
