Wow, and I make $8.30 after working a year and a half at my job...

Tell him to grow the fuck up. I don't know what he expected working at wal-mart, but I am pretty damn sure you wouldn't expect to be working with college grads and such.
 
I had a friend in high school like this. His dad was old(60's when we were in HS) and was a brick layer. My friend was too damn lazy to help his old man. If he was smart he would have learned the trade and took over for his dad(he always stayed busy). he is 30 now, still lives at home and his mom and day buy him a new truck every few years and a new 4-wheeler as well. His sister is 36 and finally got her own place, but same story with her.
 
Live at home and collect a $30/week allowance at nearly 30? That's pretty ridiculous. This person needs to get booted out and man up to reality.

I don't hang out with him much anymore. I live in a different city, and he can't afford to even come out here. I never go to his house anymore since I don't like hanging out in the same bedroom we kicked it in when we were 8.

I dropped a half dozen or so losers who i was friends with in high school. Last I checked most of them are drug addicts still living home and I've let go so I couldn't care less.
