Wow, my company does monitor email

I've worked at the same company for about 3 years, never knew how strict they were on email monitoring, but knew they did it. Not that I have ever sent anything that was inappropriate. A coworker and me occasionally send encrypted text back and forth, just for laughs I guess. Mostly because we know they did monitor emails from time to time. Well last week as during lunch time I send my coworker some encrypted junk about where to eat. I was trying to see if she could guess they key I used., blah blah, mostly just stupid email stuff. I used Ross Encryption to encrypt it.

Well the next day I was approached by two network guys claiming they saw my message and figured it was encrypted and that I had to give them the text that was sent. I actually was quite shocked, lol, but since it IS a work email I just showed them it was making lunch plans and nothing like transmitting nuclear launch codes to spies, lol. Oh well, just thought I would post this for a laugh, guess I deserve it for goofing off. Even if it was on lunch time.

LOL, I've been told they also search pics for flesh tones. LOL, guess no porn either

You should have asked them if that includes minorities. do they check browns, or just white porn?

Just copy it into Paintbrush, invert the colors, and send away.

I think you can also embed data within WAV files. But they might notice when your e-mail data volume suddenly increases by a factor of 1000.

It never ceases to amaze me what people will e-mail back and forth at work. I've seen people who store entire nudie pic collections in their e-mail box. That is to say nothing of the filthy/racist jokes and defamatory comments about co-workers. Jeez, is it really too much to wait until you get home before you immortalize it in an e-mail archive?

LOL, well I usually only view non work related material at lunch, but hey, it's all being watched so you have to becareful.

Dunbar, I hope that wansn't directed to me. Notice I said it was nothing inapropriate and at lunch time. I'm not sure where the Racist/Filth jokes jumped in.

that is disturbing. I would look for a new job. Or basically just never use my work email address.

You should ALWAYS assume your email is being monitored, by any company you work for.
