Im new to the game and just discovered AddOns.


What World of Warcraft mods do you use?

Where can I find them?

Try Cosmos.

It's a large collection of add ons with a self-updater. The self updater part is key.
I find I use maybe 5-10% of them, the rest are quite a bit of bloat.

I couldn't live without my Atlas add on (included in cosmos). Has maps of all instances.

If you use the auction house at all (which you should), get the Auctioneer addon.

Cosmos is utter crap. Avoid it at all costs.

I personally use ctmod as my primary UI mod, with a few other individual addons to enchance the wondeful ctmod. And like a previous poster has linked, Curse gaming has a listing of the most popular addons for WoW. But please do not use Cosmos, it's totally worthless.

Here's another vote for CT_Mod. That, TitanBar, plus a few class-specific Addons is all it takes to turn a good UI into a great UI.

I use CT_RaidAssist, CT_RaidTracker, Atlas, Gatherer, ZGLoot, ItemRack, Autioneer, LootLink, Group Calendar... ummm... that's all I can think of right now.

Yup, I tried it back when I played. It was insanely bloated and made my game unstable in a number of ways. Buggy... ughh. Only a couple things in there I actually cared about too.

I've always found Cosmos to be very bloated.

I used to be a complete Mod jukie, I had over 25 running, including Auctioneer, Gatherer, Autolightningh shield, CT_Raid Assist, Warddrobe (which let's you change equipment on the fly, even full sets), DamageMeter, TitanPanel, DIscord Action Bars...you get the picture.

My performance started to go down really badly and now I only use:

I also feel cosmos is bloated. I use ctmod, ctraidassist (required by most raiding guilds), damagemeters, and of course infinite ignore.

ct_playerframe, ct_raidassist, ct_raidtracker, ccwatch, titanpanel, sct, cooldown count and a few other random CT_Mod pieces (but not the entire thing, because I've always noticed that full ui packs are bloated)

I use various parts of the Insomniax Compilation, bib toolbars, atlas, CTraid assist, mo0nkey quest, and titan panel are the ones I use most often.

I usually start with a mod pack like Insomniax or QTMod and just get rid of everything I don't use. It's a lot easier that installing individual mods, and you run across a lot of good stuff that you might not have found otherwise.

My favorite individual mods are:

Bibbars - hands down the easiest action bars mod I've ever used.
Discord Unit Frames - will let you customize ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in the unit frames.
CTRaid Assist - absolutely essential once you reach lvl 60.
Decursive - Only applicable for classes with dispells, but it's a godsend in both pvp and pve.
AceTimer - puts a visible timer on the screen for any Stuns, DoTs, or HoTs. I love this mod.

insomniax compilation seems to have the best "set" of starting mods. I didn't see anyone chime in for autobars or trinketmenu. Autobar gives you a floating box that automatically gives you the highest level bandages, pots, foods you have in your inventory. You can also add your highest engie grenades, rogue poisons, etc. Tinketmenu, gives you a dual button bar that shows your active trinkets. When you mouse over them it will put up an expanded box to show you the other trinkets you have in your inventory, and the cooldowns remaining. From there you just left/right click to place it in the upper(left) or lower(right) slot.

For rogues, stunwatch v2, combopoint bar, weaponswap
For warriors, stancesets

You can use weaponswap and stancesets to more easily set your weapons, based on stances or stealth.

Also, when you start to pack on a good amount of mods, bump up your memory for them a bit. There is also a new drop-down menu to set mods per character, which is pretty nice.

Another addon I love is GoodInspect

It lets you inspect from afar and if you have the inspect key bound you can also inspect cross faction (although it doesn't *always* work)

I abhore those addon collections (ie CTMod, Cosmos, etc...) Half of those things you won't use, at least.

CTRaid - Essential if you get into the high end raiding dungeons.

Auctioneer - Good for knowing the current going rates for auction house items.

Titanbar - Most of the important info easily displayed across the top and/or bottom of your screen. Gold, bag slots, durability, location, honor, XP, etc..

Gatherer - Keep track of where you have found mines/herbs/chests and marks them on your world map so you can find those rare spots easily.

A couple not so essential mods -

Flexbar - If you don't like the UI layout and/or want some additional functionality, look into this. Having some coding background really helps when setting up events and whatnot, but you can program the 120 buttons to do a lot of cool stuff.

MoveAnything - Change up the entire UI! Or hide parts of it that you don't need.

Decursive - Must have for priests, but the other classes with "cure" spells can benefit from this tool. One button press to cleanse members of your group.

Necrosis - Warlock tool, although the latest versions of it are not as good (IMO) as the older ones. Tracks soul shards, spell timers, has the warlock casting bar, among other things.

That's the problem though. Without a compilation, you spend a good deal of your time searching through specific mods. Whereas you can start with a "bloated" compilation, and fine tune down to what you like. It's as simple as unchecking the load box in your addons menu.

Autobar and trinketmenu were a few of those great addons that I would have missed out completely. The rest I searched for by, which is more time comsuming. Though I couldn't really do that to start, as I didn't know exactly what to search for.

I take it for granted as they are part of the core insomniax build, but I'll throw my vote in for CT_Raid, Auctioneer, Titanbar, and Gatherer as mods that will definately improve the WoW interface. Button mods like flex, bib, or discord is all a personal thing.

Bank Items, allows you to keep track of multiple character bank inventory. Along with the single bag inventory mods. I got fed up with opening all the backs to scan your inventory. Onebag, allinoneinventory, etc address the multi-bag issue.
