These little things are perfect for a second or third system... esp if you're a LAN gamer. Sounds horrible but you might want to cut a hole in the side (preferably with a hole saw) to let some air into that GeForce4 though.......

I just posted at viahardware.com and people there have been saying that the 768 does NOT have an AGP slot. This is a huge revelation.

To help clear things up.

The 768 does not have an AGP slot. But we aren't talking about the 768 we are talking about the 868 which does have a 4X AGP slot. If you want to order one I just got mine from www.mpcparts.com for $391.50 shipped ground to Ohio. I haven't built the system yet but just from the looks and size of the case it kicks ass.

yup - have to agree - i love the case and it does make a nice LAN box too for those inclined to network games 🙂 I just added a SB Extigy to my box via the USB port and so far no problems with this box. I'm piping my DivX movies through this box out to my TV. Also yes, 4X AGP is enabled on this box as I'm using it with the Radeon 8500DV right now. Of course not all is great with the box with the real complaint only centering around the cabling around the AGP slot and the PCI slot. Installing cards in this box makes for a tight wiring job! But all in all - great box and stable mobo thus far.

Don't know what is taking them so long. But one thing worries me. I forgot to ask them, but the spec sheet says AGP solution up to 1920x1440... does this mean that there is an agp slot or not??

I would note to people that the AMD version does NOT have an AGP slot just one PCI... the Intel version has an AGP port though and also one PCI... with that said I'd go with the P4 version till they fix the AMD one to match the P4 one..

Haha.. they have a pic of one with a Geforce 4 Ti4600.. good to know it fits.. I'm game as soon as I have the money 😎

Notice that it has the IR port built in as well.. sweet! 😀

Edit: I'll be waiting till Newegg.com gets it though.. it'll be painless that way 🙂

well I had no problems getting this box from american-media.com. My second one is on it's way tomorrow actually. In all, i've purchased 3 cases from them now and never a problem.

man oh man, with a aluminum, black, and white case available from shuttle, i dont know which to choose!!

i just wish they would hurry up and come out with it. i am gettin my own place in the northbay and this would make moving a helluva lot easier.

🙂

Well I put up a short review of the case that I got from American-Media last week - the CF-868. Here's the review and some pics for those interested in getting this case. Review

Should be more than fine for "everyday use". It all depends on your needs. If you have a need for lots of drives, then obviously this case won't hold it. Or if you have specific expansion cards that you need, etc. It's the physical things that will likely be a limiting factor with a small case, not what it can do.

I think using this box for a home theater pc would perfect perfect for utilizing its size and appearance, just like flungster has already done.

I think the best setup would be to get a Sound Blaster Audigy External since it has optical out for 5.1/6.1, hook it up straight to a receiver to get high output sound.
Purchase a 8500 or Ti4600 with VIVO.
Purchase a IR remote, wireless mouse, and keyboard, so our lazy a$$es don't have to get up off the couch.

Set up a SAN to store my MP3's, Divx's, and other media so that I can stream everything to it.

That is my ultimate goal, for this machine.

...... you are talking about my dream machine there.

Hot diggity. Shuttle emailed me again and let me know about the release date of the 50G (the cool lookin' black one). I imagine the other models will soon follow suit.

Wallace,

Thanks for your interest in Shuttle products. The approximate time of release for the SS50G is currently slated to be late or mid-summer. Currently, Shuttle does not have an exact release date for the SS50G barebones system. Definitely check our web site for updates for the exact release date for the SS50G.

Thanks,

Sweet...I actually am thinking about waiting for the shuttle since it has SPDIF, it would eliminate having to buy an audigy.

The SS50G has an AGP slot right?

n/m looks like only the 51G has AGP.

This is perfect, I was going to upgrade myp3 system to a p4 for college..looks like i'm gonna go with this instead. Hopefully grad money will pay for this, if it doesn't i always have a job to pay for it.
