I think its just another symptom of what it is to let a drug destroy your life.

National Geographic Channel had a 1 Hour Meth special on tonight too. I saw both of them (NG and TLC).

It makes me want to eat some meth.

Did meth for ages, no long term addiction, teeth fine - don't believe the hype. It's all about knowing the drugs you do, how to be safe and, and how to look after yourself.

/Edit: this does not mean I suggest you go out and try it...

The drug does very little damage to the teeth by itself. The main problem is b/c most people who do speed regularly do not exercise proper hygeine or diet.

I agree with your post, but you are the minority.

If they're using, most are too tweaked out to even care about that sort've stuff... Which is the problem.

True, there are a lot of people like that, but maybe not the majority. Recreational (as opposed to obsessive) users tend to keep quiet about it, and don't make it obvious, so you couldn't really take a count of them.

Isn't this more as a result of poor diet, hygiene, etc. in addition to teeth grinding? And if not, this would be primarily as a result of smoking it, would it not? Other methods of use would not affect this, I would think... Like heroin, it's actually not very toxic or damaging to your health (as much as, say, alcohol) but the lifestyle that results is one not indicative of good hygiene, taking care of one's teeth, bad diet, etc. Might be different though, just a few random thoughts.

He's probby NOT the minority. The one thing I found out from my experiments with drugs (senior year in high school) is that drugs aren't that bad for MOST people. But, for a few, it changes their entire lives for the worst. And, the mainstream is completely not truthful about it.

I think being honest about drugs would persuade most people not to try them better than the current 'OMG drugs will kill you' mainstream attitude. Like, for instance, say.. 'If you do ecstacy it'll probby feel good, but you'll probby feel horrible the next day and spend the entire day throwing up.' <-- That would probby work better than people that have never done any drugs saying that 'one pill of ecstacy can KILL JOOO OOMG OMG!!!ONE.'

Bet you didnt smoke it, and unless your personally making it you really have no idea what exactly your taking. If you were speaking about an un-refined grows naturally type of drug I would agree with you, but not this crap. My old boss when i was 21 was one of the three most intelligent people I have ever met.....except for doing this stuff. His was good, clean ect. But after years of doing it KC is no longer with us.In the last 5 years I know as many people who have checked out as a direct result of their involvment with meth. This stuff is like buying time on a credit card. At some point the compound sleep interest catches up with you. And when the equation comes out that you dont have enough time to invest in getting clean you go bankrupt.

And I for one will say that meth in no way is good for you, its not hype folks this sh*t will in time kill you, especially if you think your smarter than it (You are doing it in the first place after all :p ) Even if you dont straight out die from it, I guarantee if you use it with any frequency it will kill off parts of you that you might wish you had later on in life.

I had your opinion when i was 24, but at 38 you get rather picky about what you stick up for, not to mention that many people you might know in this crowd at 24 are strikingly absent from the planet 14 years later.

I watched the show and I was not convinced that lifestyle rather than the drug itself caused the rapid destruction of the teeth.

Look, many hard core potheads have constant dry mouth, munch carb loaded foods like fiends and have poor oral hygiene and do not see total destruction of their teeth in 3-4 years. Coke heads grind their teeth just as much as meth heads, and they do not see the same destruction. The destruction is just WAY too rapid to not be connected to the meth in some way.

A meth free teen can go 4 solid years with NEVER brushing and NEVER see that kind of total destruction of their teeth. Many native tribes had/have no oral hygiene at all and tooth loss doesn't start until their late 20s, or early 30s.

Meth must cause the destruction either through chemical changes in the saliva, or lack of blood flow to the teeth, or both.
