I think I remember seeing something like this back in the late 90's. I couldn't see a point then, and I still don't. Perhaps when displays are 3-dimensional, a 3-D interface will have some merit, but I'm not even sure the human brain is wired for it - certainly only male geeks wuold be efficent at it.
