After I sold an item on ebay, I forgot that Paypal charged for credit card payments. I had paypal put in logos automatically for my auctions, and they used one that says "Pay with credit card" etc etc.
I had about 6 auctions, all the buyers wanted to use paypal but I told them my situation and they all were willing to send a money order or check. But one.

Here's what he has to say:

Take the negative, and tell him to shove it. Don't let this jerk get rent free space in your head. Fuggedabout it.
 
I guess I'd be a little upset if the auction page said you took wampum beads but in reality, you didn't. Kind of that mispresentation thing... but wow, this guy certainly has a little problem with his shift and caps lock key, and his "1" might need a little help there, too.

But what did your email to them look like?
 
Yes, his @ss is tighter than a snare drum but you should have specified what you would take.
 
I tried to reason with him. he says he has no cash and no checking account. is he bsing me?

I asked him nicely why he wouldn't be willing to just mail me the money. If it comes down to it, i'll just take the credit card payment and take the $$ loss...
 
hey if you already have 6 negatives, just take another, and create a new account where you start from scratch. i know e-bay has rules, but even when shopping at well known stores, problems occur and your order is cancelled. i wouldnt lift a cheek for this asshole. my suggestion would be to start over and build up your rating again.
 
I'm sorry, but you're in the wrong here. The guy is being an ass about it as well, but you should just take the hit. How much does PayPal take? Like 1% or so? Is a negative feedback really worth 8 cents?
 
I think you should accept his CC payment and avoid the neg. It was OK to ask for another form, but he didn't want to, and you did say you accepted them. His attitude needs improvement, though.
 
Keep in mind in order to accept CC payments you have to upgrade your account to Premier, which means that all money you take in after you upgrade will be subject to the 2% (even non-CC payments).

I don't see why the guy can't just send you $8, even if it's cash. Granted you made the mistake in the auction, but most people would (or should) be cool about it.

Well I think what I'm gonna do is just accept his payment and then ask to downgrade, which can be done once. anyway, all his replies are still in caps. :frown:
 
The guy is being difficult but you put that you accepted in your auction. And its a $8 item and you won't eat the paypal charge on that? If that's the case you are clearly in the wrong, just accept his paypal and be done with it.
 
You have to take a negative unless you don't accept his credit card order. You messed up, he didn't. Let him pay you by CC and get it over with. Don't leave him a negative because it is your fault.

The asshole is probably going to give you a negative either way. Just screw it, take the negative, and give him a negative for your troubles.
 
For the record, a premier account will take $0.53 of that $8. Consider that...

Why would the bidder deserve a negative? He mgiht have acted like a jerk, but it seems he's willing to pay for the item as it was advertised. Retaliatory feedback is suck.
 
Well to break it down, I would be losing $1.50 if i do credit card. But there's no other option, so I agreed. He agreed to send me an extra dollar, so I guess it's ok.

i would give him a negative back for his threatening e-mails saying that he will have you kicked out of e-bay.

Screw him. He's a hot head. Who freaks out like that for an $8 item? He doesn't have cash? IT'S $8!!!! I mean, you should have been more specific in your auction, yadda yadda yadda. You weren't right, but jack asses like this shouldn't "win".

I never stated anywhere in the thread that I was right. I was just ranting about his attitude 🙁
 
Take the paypal fee. People complain about it but Paypal does not even break even. It's a great deal with the fee.

I only pay with credit card on ebay. That way I am protected. I see it as a cost of sales. If the fee bothers you then why did you sell on ebay? Anandtech is free.....

I understand you made an error, but why make an issue over less than $1?
