No. I've seen approaching thunderstorms that look just like that here in the midwest, and on the coast of South Carolina. Shelf clouds on thunderheads are not all that uncommon.

It's a fake.

If it was a hurricaine over open water than that ship would have been seeing 15-25 foot waves at the point that was taken. The water is too "picturesk".

Funny thing is, CNN (or was it Fox?) showed this the other day and said "...and look at this incredible picture of hurricane Isabel!"

I already saw the other posts and the link to Snopes, so it was pretty funny to see how easily a major news network was fooled.
