Wow!, laptops with Pentium M chips are gonna smoke at SETI!

Just read Anandtechs review of the Pentium M ,points like far higher IPC than a PIII ,1MB L2 cache & a 400MHz RAM all looks good for SETI!😀

(ok so you'd have to keep it on charge permanently!😉)

Anyone got one we can try it out on?

I want one so bad. I would love to trade in my IBM 1500i for one of those T40p's, but alas I don't have the $3500 to get one. Toshiba has a less expensive one that looks pretty nice and will run you around $2000 if I'm not mistaken but I love my IBM and would deffinetly look to get another one when it is time.

Oops sorry I didn't respond to you before.

My 1500i is a P3 500 and does WUs at around 10hr/wu. I'm still really temped to get a Pentium M but will probably wait a few months.

Well let us know if you get one. Then you can run at least a couple of WUs to give us sometimes🙂

As for the late replie ,the TA babes & their whips will have something to say about that!:Q😉

My old Dell Inspiron 8100 (PIII 1.0M) does them in about 5 hrs. I have a newer Compaq notebook at work that I'm pretty sure is the same speed but it cranks them in a little over 4hrs. Would love a new one but $$$ 🙁

Awsome times! If I was in the notebook market, I surly wouldnt overlook the Pentium-M. Are motherboard manufacturers allowed to make mobos for desktop systems that use the Pentium-M? I suppose It would require a third party chipset that would support all of the expected features though.
