Bell was a seventh-round draft pick and two-year starter at Northwestern State, the same Louisiana school that produced cornerback Terrence McGee.

Bell is the son of Malone, but the Mailman had no role in Bell?s success except passing along athletic genes.

The two have had very little contact during Bell?s life. His mother, Gloria Bell, reportedly was only 13 years old and Malone a college sophomore at Louisiana Tech when Demetrius was born. Malone might have served jail time had her family asked the district attorney to file criminal charges.

Bell didn?t even know Malone was his father until after graduating from high school. When they finally met, Malone told the 18-year-old Bell it was too late to be his father, and that Bell would have to ?earn his money on his own.?

Not that illegitimate babies are anything new in the NBA, but Malone has always had this goody two shoes image about him, and for this to happen to someone as big as him (literally + figuratively) makes this quite interesting..

He pulled the same sh!t with his other kids, and only agreed to meet cheryl ford after her repeated attempts to get in touch, sending pictures that looked exactly like him (something like that.) He's a typical sh!thead deadbeat father who doesn't take responsibility for his actions imo.

Hmmm... I never would have pegged Karl Malone as a deadbeat-- he always had a somewhat squeeky clean image.

Seriously? I thought his general reputation was that of a scumbag. I'm not surprised at all by this.

I wonder if the mother can still sue for back child support. This is one instance where I'd love to see the father taken to the cleaners.

Isn't this very similar, other than the age of the mother, to Larry Bird's daughter?

Also - you can't leave Travis Henry, RB and drunk-tard, off the list of athletes with lots of kids.

HOF mention for Juwann Howard - after signing the richest contract in NBA history at the time, he reportedly offered a woman $60 dollars a month to support a child of his she was raising....yes, you read that right - $60 dollars a month.
