Safe? How is buying candy not safe? Why is it that it is the school's job to regulate candy and children? It should be the parents job to tell their children not to eat candy in excess.

My older daughter goes to a school in the same district (New Haven CT) and her class had a discussion about this today ... apparently the rule-change in 2003 involved the school itself selling candy/soda etc & was intended to encourage sale of healthy snacks instead.
