Seriously, my best friend grew up with parents who believe in Biblical Parenting.
In her family, when they misbehaved they were spanked; sometimes with a wooden spoon (with which I have no problem).
She was brought up as a Christian and her parents did everything they could to teach her Christian values like love and compassion but they ultimately allowed her to make her own decisions and draw her own conclusions.
She was homeschooled as well and was taught by her mother, a state-certified teacher. They forcused on the "three r's" and, even though they believe in creationism, she was taught the theory of evolution and she can speak quite intelligently on it.
And to proove just how bad this education is, my friend, their eldest, most successful child, works in the legal department for a major international company and is making well over $75,000/year. All before her 24th birthday.
Wow, Biblical Parenting is obviously a terrible idea.
I feel sorry for her. Brought up in a loving home and knowing that her parents and siblings were always there for her no matter what happened, learning about and participating in the world at large while having a loving family to fall back on, and with no skills apart from the ability to think clearly and critically about the world.
EDIT: She was allowed to watch TV, but some shows were off-limits (shows like South Park and, for a few years, The Simpsons), and her family encouraged reading mainstream media and discussing the topics.
