The great thing is...now that they have Intel CPU's...all of a sudden they are so much faster than the PowerPC versions which they kept saying were faster than PC's

Q: What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac?
A: Not as much as an AMD chip would do in a Mac.

To be fair, it's not the same Intel chips they were claiming the PowerPC's were faster than, so it's not all that easy to compare. For what they did the PowerPC chips were great, but Apple has wanted faster chips for a while now, and IBM just hasn't delivered, Intel will.

they were saying mhz per mhz powerpc was faster than a PC..... i think.

IBM couldnt deliver 3ghz or the laptop G5. so they switched to a higher efficiency, higher speed, dual core Yonah.

it makes perfect sense.

It does make sense...but I guarantee that if they hadn't switched to the Intel chip, they still would have been saying that the Mac's were xxx times faster than a PC.

AMD has no dual-core laptop solution ready for market. Ruh-roh.
