Fios

Pros:
  • Fast
  • Cheap for lower 2 (5 & 15Mbs) packages
  • You can say you have fiber running to your house with a staight face

Cons:
  • They use PPPOE instead of DHCP or static addressing
  • No modem and it comes into your house at the one location with the CAT5. I guess this could be a pro if your house is wired.
  • Install job seemed very ad hoc, but aren't all cable/phone company install jobs?

Check if it's in your area, it's hard to beat 15Mbs for $50 in the US.

You lucky effer!

I have 5/1 here, & that's about all i can get w/o spending my whole paycheck.

I would be blissfully happy to have 15/2, though i would really wish the up was better.

are there DL/UL limits?

No

why is it so cheap?

No idea

wow. i want that so badly. not available here yet though :(

edit: did a quick google search, and for all you BT users they also seem to be more towards the "it's your privacy, we'll try not to give into the subpeonas" stance, though that may have been from a while ago.

waiting for it for long island... we get 10/1Mbps right now but you can't even use 1Mbps at full throttle for any amount of time or they'll cap your upload. I've been capped 3 times in the last 3 years... :| I would love 15/2Mbps at just $5 more.

BTW, how do you guys know which areas already have it ? Word of mouth ?

ooo they better expand to where I live... only cox or slow slow DSL here right now. 15mbit would make anyone cry with joy. and the upload is very very nice as well... i could have a 32 player server easily! and it's only 10 bucks more than my current 4/.5 cox
