Wow...is 'Elephunk' the best hip hop album of the year?

It should be!!! I just bought this Black Eyed Peas album today, though I know it dropped early this summer. Reviews were mixed at best, and the only song I ever heard on the radio was "where is the love" so I never bothered sampling it earlier. Finally heard some more tracks on XM radio so I thought I'd check it out.

Every track is well-produced, and I can listen through the whole album any time of day. Very good party album. A little bit of rap, a little reggae, some latin beats, and even some modern rock...all with a funky flava. The one girl in the group can do some good vocals too (has she always been part of BEP??) I wish there was more good music like this instead of all the crap they play on the radio.

LOL, I was bout to say, that's the only other album I'd consider for that honor!! I dunno...both the Andre disc and the Big Boi disc flow really well, but the tracks don't really stand out on their own.

Bridging the Gap was a disappointment to me. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to their new album yet, but hopefully it will be better.

the black eyed peas album is pretty good. i like the opening track on there along with a few others. no, the female vocalist was not a member previously, but from interviews, they are happy with the direction she has taken the band with.

aesop rock, what can i say? truly impressive album. it is a good album, and i recommend it to the causal hip hop listener.

of course, imo, the honor for best hip hop album goes to outkast. big boi's cd infuses the jazzy beats and trumpets we have grown to love from outkast, and andre's cd takes a whole new, unique direction, yet the original lyrics and concepts appeal to a broader range of listeners and expands their musical tastes. me also being a casual jazz listener really enjoyed dre's cd and what he did with it.

it's ok. I don't follow hip hop enough to say if it's the best or not
But Fergie is hot so that helps :p

Neptunes was an ok album only because the beats are A+. Didn't like Elephunk at all. Outkast is good. I dunno which ones are best, but ones I've enjoyed:

Jeid Mind Tricks - Visions of Gandhi and The Psycho Social CD
Gang starr - Ownerz
AR - Bazooka Tooth

I love it! The first track is pretty awesome. You know, I don't really get the selling out business. I've been listening to BEP for a long time, and while Bridging the Gap was not the my favorite, I still think that they are very very good. The girl is new, which is cool- she definetly has some voice on her.

I saw them in a concert a couple of years back, and it was so much fun. Nice guys.

Ahh not really. I'd prefer some JMD or Atmosphere over the new Outkast album, seriously.
