The first time we replaced the speakers in my friends car from factory we installed an amplifier and infinity kappas. Boy those sounded nice! Then he got a set set of JL's in the rear, I think they sounded very nice too, maybe even a step above kappas. Today we went into the stereo shop and listened to some mb quarts 6.5" components. Very nice, but then the shop owner played the Focal's he had. Wow. I think I can safely say these are the best 6.5" components I've ever heard in a car. They don't thud, but do have a nice bass sound. The tweeters on them are awesome though, very crisp clean sound. I'd previously never heard of the focal brand. Are they a big name? I'm not too much into the high end stereo so if they were I wouldn't know, but I've definatley heard the quartz name more. No matter what I like them though and just wanted to see if anyone else has an opinion 🙂

Focal's and Dynaudio will destroy anything you can buy for anything for the price. Then again, $350+ for a 6.5inch and tweet component is a lot, plus you need to power them with at least 50watts RMS, but hey, they're awesome.

Actually we got the 6.5" component set for like $310 from the local audio store! I don't think its the highest focal line, but its high enough for my ear 🙂 We're only feeding them off a 50 watt x 4 RF amp too. I will say that the JL' 6.5's in the back have more bass to them, but together they work very well in anchoring the soundstage up front.

I've been looking at the Polyglass 130V's. I can get them for like $203, and from what I have read and heard, they sound awesome. I am running a pair of Kicker i525s right now. They sound nice, but the comp set will definitly sound better.
