Though I was referring to a written exam, yes I do get a second shot at most finals too. A third at some, too.

Where do you guys go? I don't think you get a second chance at any exam here at MSU.

MSU? I am going to NDSU, just across the border. ;)

My first year kind of sucked too. But that had more to do with the fact that I didn't have my own car yet, and my mom had to drive me to and from every day, and we lived 30 minutes away. I had classes that started at 9am, a huge gap, and then more classes from 3:30 or 6:30.

And to make it worse, I still don't have my bachelor's degree (only my associates), I have been going since 1998.

My schedule next semster will look something like that as well, I'll have classes from 8:00 to 12:00 then a couple days during the week one class at 5:30 to 6:30

If grades are the estimation and review of your life, no wonder it sucks. Life, even in college, is about what else you do, not just the main thing. Live some, learn some, and you won't be so worried about it.

Heh...

Eariler, I was thinking to myself that I should feel worse - but I don't. I am getting out a lot more than I used too, and I've made a couple good friends. The thing the is though, is any chick going to want to go out with a guy a who gets a "D" math 103 and fails intro to philosophy?

Yes. The person that thinks that an "A" in philosophy is going to get them a chick is the ones I worry about. Grades are numbers. The rest falls into place. And then go hang out with some sailors and learn how to drink. :)

If you want chicks, just get a motorcycle. Getting an A in intro to philosophy isn't going to get you any pussy.

No, "A" in any class is going to get be any but does any semi-decent chick going to want to go out with a guy who can't even pass a simple class? Does any chick want to marry a guy who dropped out of college making next to nothing?

Perhaps you should lay off drinking next semester.

Exactly what I was thinking.

This is some advice I gave in that Life Tips thread...

College usually means a LOT of time to kill, use that extra time to better yourself by getting a job or volunteer in a related field (to what you are studying).

Always keep your long term goals in mind, it is easy to get sucked into a pattern of excessive partying and all of a sudden you graduate without a plan.

Hmm. That's almost offending. My chick married me, after she got her bachelors majoring in anthropology, and minoring in photography. And I've never been to college. So according to your theory, what does that say about me? I may not be in college, but I have many experiences that few people will ever have the opportunity to do, being in the Navy for 7 years now. And I'm actually going through college--I'm currently one class away from my associates at an online university. Does that make me a lesser person?

And what's more interesting about it, is that my wife considers me to be the more intelligent of us, as we have had many discussions, including that one. There are many things important in this world. College is not amongst them. When you get out of college, hopefully you learn this. College is a tool--not a way of life, nor the answer to one. Even as such, few people seem to use it properly anyway.

You went in the Navy for seven years, you had to have learned something while you were in the Navy... Not to mention I would assume you had a good job and some cash tp spend...

No more slacking off, son. This is college. If you have to repeat your intro courses, you're a total puss and need to shape up.

I did learn a lot. I learned a lot about what to take seriously in life, and what not to. Making an "a" in a class, and getting with a chick because of it is stuff that won't matter later in life.

At least your arent having problems with motivation in the home stretch.

I'm in my senior year, and am hoping to be able to pass my classes this term. Wish I woulda gotten my slackerness out of the way sooner, like what everyone else does.
