Wow I never knew how much they censored!

I was just watching MTV because, well, it's late at night and there's nothing else on ANY other channel. Anyway they had some rap videos on and I was amazed at how much they censored out ... I don't particularly like rap music (it's not that bad, but it's just not my favorite) and I can understand them editing out swear words, but here are some of the words/phrases they edited out in the ~5 videos I watched:

vehicular homicide
whore
bleeds
ass
bitch
condom
ho
shut up
freak
killed
cut
shut up
we should be together
jump your bones
suffocate
drugs
slit her throat

Now some of these are kind of vulgar but others...why the hell are they editing out some of this stuff? Are 10 year olds their target audience? Will they really get fined for these things or do they just want to avoid the possible bad publicity?

And that nelly song, the tv version of "batter up" is a totaly diffrent song, has nothing to do with the regualr version i downloaded...

I never understood censorship of certain words/expression by MTV. What is the point of bleeping a word when the majority of its audience knows what it is. There are also the videos that are banned from MTV, eg, Madonna's What it Feels Like For a Girl. I watched the video on MuchMusic (Canadian equivalent) and did not see anything offensive at all. The only thing she does is points and shoots a watergun at a cop. Stupid, if you ask me. :disgust:
