Wow, I don't even know how to title this

White people killing white people. We should have stronger sentencing laws and lock up all these drug abusers up and implement something like three strikes laws.

These people are super predators and need to be dealt with.

Or we could declare mental health and emergency and find a way to treat these people.

America, the land of hypocrisy.

Why didn't the cop simply reversed the rifle and butted the dude with the stock?

It might be that the cop was having more fun than that butt nekkid guy? 😉

I see your point though. The cop could'a tazed him. If it was me trying to control Mr. Funny Pharm I wouldn't want to get hands on with him for fear of getting infected with whatever that looney was loaded with.

I wouldn't know how to respond with that. Everything in the world of touch, sight, sound . . icebergs, microbes, animals or people . . . is describable in statistical scatters of events. Sometimes, it is difficult to collect a sample of the same type of event, so one might use Boolean and "subjective" methods to reliably infer an interpretation. But the inference must at least be testable with provable mathematical or symbolic logic, sound predicate statements, axioms, and in each case -- preliminary assumptions.

That real-world news story is bizarre. So one might ask a better question: "How often and how much of total murder-hostage situations do you find anything comparable? How many times a year -- if you have data going back to Jack the Ripper. For the subject example, the report sounds like some fiction -- for instance -- "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

This was part of the script for "No Country For Old Men" -- probably one of the best westerns in the last ten or more years, with that special touch from the Coen brothers:

SHERIFF BELL: "My lord, Wendell, it's just all-out war. I don't know any other word for it. Who are these folks? I don't know …"

[He rattles the paper. ]

"...Here last week they found this couple out in California they would rent out rooms to old people and then kill em and bury em in the yard and cash their social security checks. They'd torture them first, I don't know why. Maybe their television set was broke. And this went on until, and here I quote..."

[He looks through his glasses at the paper. ]

…'Neighbors were alerted when a man ran from the premises wearing only a dog collar.' You can't make up such a thing as that. I dare you to even try."

[He peers over his glasses at Wendell who respectfully shakes his head and tsk's.
Sheriff Bell rattles the paper again. ]

"...But that's what it took, you'll notice. Get someone's attention. Diggin graves in the back yard didn't bring any. "

[Wendell bites back a smile. Sheriff Bell gazes at him over his glasses for a long beat, deadpan. ]

"...That's all right. I laugh myself sometimes. "

[He goes back to the paper. ]

"...There ain't a whole lot else you can do."
===============================

By some classification and order, in a magnitude of 350+ million people, there are always those types of people. There are even black and Mexican perpetrators, as many as it would be hard to imagine . . .

There are always going to be some Anton Chigur types, and it wears on the Sheriff Ed Tom Bells of the world.

There are just more people, wider availability of information, and a limit for some people in processing it all and keeping it straight . . .

Maybe you should take a vacation to Polynesia, while there's still a good sense of accurate weather prediction. Mix a tall one; sit on the beach. Give your mind a rest. There are nice, remote places to visit in New Zealand, too . . . .

There are worse things -- the President just insulted an entire congressional district and American territory with native-born citizens. What could be worse than that?

I disagree with stronger sentencing laws for drug abusers but we have free treatment center for those with drug addictions and proper mental health screening and treatment.

Your white privilege missed my point😉
What in Hell does my White Privilege if any, has to what I said? I had a typo leaving out should that I just now caught.😳 Since their was at least one vaccine developed that keeps the award center of the Brain from activating if using an addicting drug, we should publicly fund more research to developed more to prevent becoming addicts.

Had this guy been, um, black it would have only required one officer and then a paddy wagon.

That's a pretty nasty smear against cops in general. I don't believe they'll generally shoot anybody who's naked, nuts & obviously unarmed unless he has 'em in a choke hold. More specifics-

The way they describe the relationships is odd. I can't figure out if the older woman he killed was his mother or just his (half?) sister's. The crazy bastard is in the shit now.

Another situation that has nothing to do with race that AT P&N can't help but manufacture racism over. Rinse, repeat. The OP is what liberal indoctrination looks like.

Sure he killed people and could have done more, but at least he wasn't selling loose cigarettes. When do black children with toy guns in open carry states get this kind of restraint?

What a disgrace, I cannot believe that guy didn't get dropped.

Sure he killed people and...

You don't know what the officers knew at the time. But clearly a naked man is unarmed.

Police have been given a LOT of !@# for shooting unarmed people. This could be AFTER they received training / standing orders not to escalate the use of force without a good reason. Although I would have shot him for putting his hands around that man's neck. Maybe I would need sensitivity training.

A small rural town, makes sense that police are less likely to kill. I don't know why they didn't shoot. Maybe we should try asking them.

The county this happened in has 65.5 people per square mile. My guess is small town cops are probably statistically less prone to use lethal force.

Keep in mind that a rifle round will go right through the naked man and kill the old dude.

Probably because the presence of a gun is much more threatening than a naked guy. Do you think the child that you are referring to would have been shot if he was running around in the park naked? Do you really think that this guy wouldn't have been shot if he was naked and holding a gun?

I'm a white adult male. If I bought an airsoft hand gun, took off the safety tip to make it look 100% like a real hand gun (and most of them absolutely do in the absence of that tip) and went around in a park pointing it at people, there is a very high likely hood that I would be shot. Especially if I didn't immediately comply with police officers when they arrived. It would also be a 100% justified shoot if someone drew their own CC gun and shot me dead.

I'm sure you remember a black child pointing a toy gun at people and not complying with police orders but that is in fact not what happened. Tammir Rice was rolled up on and shot before any normal adult could react in a manner that would be acceptable to police. Rice wasn't an adult of course.

There are countless examples of police overacting to black suspects in situations where white men in similar situations were given the benefit of the doubt. To be fair its not because police are racists but rather because there is an involuntary reaction people have to black people that promotes fear (and its not just white people who have this fear). That fear isn't justified and it has had devastating consequences.

Better police training is what's required and a better understanding from white people like yourself who live in a bubble is also necessary.

Keep them blinders on sparky.

I reviewed the actual news article and watched the actual event before making my post. The kid had a gun in his waistband and pulled it when the cops arrived. That's pretty much a 100% way to get shot immediately regardless of color. It's literally exactly what NOT to do. I realize that it was fast, and a split second decision, but I believe it was a justified use of force by the police officer given his knowledge at the time (though horrible given the circumstances). It was communicated on the original 911 call that the caller thought it was a kid with a toy gun, but that wasn't told to responding officers.

I'm not living in a bubble, and I do think that there are many examples of police officers overacting to black suspects. I'm not saying that this isn't an issue, it certainly is. I also think that it's wrong that black Americans get often get harsher prison sentences than white Americans. With that being said, what happened to Tamir Rice was horrible, but I do not think that it is even remotely close to the case you want to use to defend this position. Pulling a gun on a cop moving towards you is a pretty bad idea regardless of race.
