I remember a disscussion with a colleague about the advent of the DEC alpha 533mhz laptop.

We were joking on how it would be a portable furnace:laugh:


EDIT: I was pretty young back then so, in fact, this "colleague" was just some kid😱

Yeah. I'm 23 now, but I remember reading about this site in an article in the Charlotte Observer back when I was 16 and thinking "Man, that guy is the same age that I am".

I remember a ton of fledgling web sites from back then - a lot of them run by kids around that age. Anand was one of the few that was professional enough to turn it into something great. 🙂

yeah, he was. does anyone remember the geocities site at all? i remember it looking even more basic.

and did anyone else notice anand's old email address?? CYRIX FTW! hahaha... wow.. i feel old.
 
The company that is sending me the DEC Alpha 533 that I'll be reviewing me is just waiting for the PC164SX motherboard to come in so they can ship me the system, I'll try to have an exact arrival date of the system in the next few days...this is gonna be one awesome review, hopefully I can get a *reasonably* priced Pentium II - 333 to benchmark against the Alpha real soon.

Well, just recently AMD has started shipping the 0.25 micron chips they produced last year, according to AMD this will include the 233MHz and 266MHz parts that we've been waiting for.

My router uses a 266mhz AMD Geode Chip😀
 
Man, I've got a DEC Alpha just sitting here in a corner...last time I checked it dual-boots to NT 4.0 and Red Hat...7? Don't really know what to do with it...but it makes a nice stand sometimes.

P2 350
ATI Rage card
and 1/2 gig ram.
8 gig hard drive
That was top of the line back then.
