I think what they are refering to is the AQ portal.

The newest instance blizzard has released has two giant time sinks attached to it. 1 Is a server wide effort pretty much taking the most hardcore of servers 2+ weeks to gather all the materials for. The other is one that will take a hardcore guild/faction several days-weeks to farm up for.

The first part gets handled on it's own basically. But the second part (the individual guild part) can be done by a guild (and usually only one or two guilds really put forth the crazy effort neccesary on a server - and beyond that only one person yields the 'scepter' to open the gates).

Hence one guild, who has completed the gate quest - if they are the only ones to have done it.. can literally prevent the server from opening the gates.
It's pretty selfish... and really funny at the same time too.

To many teenagers in that game. Hopefully a new mmorpg comes out soon to take over. Maybe the lotr one.

Yeah, no one under 20 would play a lotr mmorpg. Anyways, you sound like someone who's never played the intensely addictive and unbelievably fun world that is Warcraft.

I did, hit level 60 way too fast and got bored and quit.

Same. Level 60 warrior on bonechewer.

Ditto, same here. WoW got really tedious for me after level 55 or so, because you needed at least 3 or 4 other people to help you with all of the major quests. It gets even worse once you hit 60, since most of the remaining quests at that point need 20+ man raid groups. Ever try to set one of those up and keep everyone playing for 3+ hours if you're not part of a HUGE guild? It's not worth the effort.
