Wow, great music

I am listening to Vivaldi's "Flute Concerto in G minor" and it is simply amazing. Its too bad this type of talent is so rare nowadays... but at least we have some great rap....

Listening to classical music is all well and good, but what really drives me nuts are the pretentious asshats that think if you don't listen to classical music you are somehow untalented or otherwise obtuse.

I think people should recognize the talent that goes into it. Listen to most "artists" now that don't even write their own songs and compare them to a "live" track. If they sound even similar...you have found a rare counterexample

There is that type of talent nowadays, you obviously are not looking in the right places.
And there are some hip hop productions that are every bit as genius as a great concerto by one of the classical masters.

<--- Classically trained cellist, aspiring hip hop producer, listener to all types of music

I listen to all types of music too, its just I can't say many hold a finger to any of these songs. I can enjoy a stupid-fun rap song but its just that, stupid-fun. Its fun for a few listens but its old after 2 weeks on the charts.

I didn't say the talent doesn't exist...I said its rare

You are sadly confused sir.
I would venture to say that talent is more widespread than it was a few hundred years ago.
Sure, there are people who do crap, but there were people who did crap then.
If you look beyond MTV there are hundreds of artists who are making and have made brilliant work.

Notice, I am saying the music that gets attention....radiotime....things like that. I am talking about what you see on the Top 100 charts. I am not saying that there is not talent out there...unfortunately it just rarely gets noticed.

Lol dude, popular culture is a sh!t hole. What else do you expect?

How do you think it was back in the day? It wasn't like everybody was listening to Bach when he was still alive.

ok....anyway....not trying to start a debate of how much is good out there today...just recognizing a great song

So which concerto in G? There's like 4 different songs under that name.
Anyways, I'm not a big vivaldi fan, it's too boroque sounding for me.

A few songs that I enjoy now:
Thais Meditation from Massanet
Bruch
Chopin
Ave Maria from Schubert

I wasn't aware that Chopin and Bruch were songs...
