I'm trying to get feel if my new rig is not optimizing very well and seeing if i'm getting a nice upgrade to my performance. As a general benchmark, i play wow pretty often and either i'm not seeing an apparent performance increase or my computer isn't up to snuff.

Intel C2D 2.2ghz - oc to 2.6ghz
4 gigs of ram
8800 Gt with latest drivers
Vista Premium64 / also tested on XP Pro

for some off reason i'm seeing 20fps at these settings
24 bit depth - 24 bit color 8x multi
1680x1050
MAXED World Appearance.

i'm hoping to hit upwards of 40 fps in BGs and raids.

let me know. thanks.

Fresh install of WOW?

With or without addons? Some are just dogs.

You can also try their fix process where you rename the WTF and cache folders. Perhaps some corrupted data is around.

Hell my iMac is only a 2.16 C2D, 3gb, 7600GT 256mb and I can run one session well over 40fps with another session in a smaller window holding the same speed.

I am actually able to run the main session with two smaller sessions without issue. I even five to load at once but its not really playable.

I play at 1600 x 1200 maxed and I get 60 fps all the time pretty much. My rig is in my sig, but I'm about to upgrade to an 8800GT 512mb.

45-80 fps with the system in my signature.

Make sure you test with all addons OFF.

My FPS averages around 80-100, 70-80ish in raids/shat city. It hits upwards of 250ish FPS when I look at the ground.

My stats are:

E6750 oc to 3.0ghz? Too lazy to check
eVGA 8800 GTS 320mb
2gig of crucial ballistix ram
Windows XP Pro

My guess would of been on the Vista. But seeing that you tested on XP Pro, can't pinpoint anything.

well nothing has worked. it's a bit odd.

- fresh install of Vista / WoW
- installed WoW from Original Discs / Original BC - 2.x to 2.3 patch download and latest patch
- tried with zero addons and all addons
did the following to vista
- disable indexing
- disabling indexing of the wow folder
- change performance to high
- change 100 min and 100max processor usage in control panel
- changed settings to windows defender.

there's no reason why this is performing on par to my 2ghz athlon / 9700 pro with 1.5 gigs of ram.

- so stumped.
