In all fairness, she was probably panicking because she couldnt get to her kid and it didnt dawn on her to use the key since she always used the keyless entry. Just like how some people lock their keys in their car just to find out the hatchback or passenger door was still unlocked. But a panicing mother is less likely to think logically.
 
That's kinda unbelievable.. I mean.. Huh?

How can you not know that the key that you start your car with also fits into the shiny metal key receptacles on the doors?

Another person who didn't read the owners manual...

It was Fords which had the emergency switch in the trunk that switched off the fuel pump when you were bump in the rear. But it seems alot of people couldn't get their cars started after that, until they remembered or found out about the switch. I've read that it even happened to someone from Ford, some higher up manager.
