WOW fans help a father out

episodic

Lifer
My son has everything but "Wrath of Lich King" and "Cataclysm"

Cataclysm is the newest. Can you buy that w/o Lich King? Or do you 'have' to go in order.

Thanks.

You might be able to buy one and not the other, but you need them all in order to level to 85.

Classic WoW: 1 to 60
Burning Crusade 60-70
WoTLK: 70-80
Cataclysm: 80-85

You will need both unfortunately. It takes about 2 weeks of average playtime to get from 70-80 though if you did need to wait to purchase both.

Ahh well, I'll get both.

I credit WOW with his good grades - keep a B or better and you can play (has worked great so far - cheap investment). . .

If that were true, Starcraft 1 was responsible for me getting good grades in high school.

It wasn't that, it was the weekly beatings for getting a B.

Little do you know that if he didn't play WoW he'd be focused enough for an easy A.

He mostly makes "A"s, has already take college algebra, trig, and cal 1 at a local college in the summer and is in all honors classes - has watched every math video on Khan academy, and has a stack of linear algebra, topology, and other assorted math books. Scored high enough on the ACT as a Sophmore I don't think he needs to take it again. He tends to make B's in English and writing heavy classes as he is just like me and terribly dyslexic. He's worked through it though.

He self taught himself php, programs his calc for fun, and wants to be a college math professor. I just look at his stuff and say "carry on".

The only thing he's ever asked for is wow, a ti-89, and a nice bicycle (he hates cars/cell phones/ etc.). So he got his single speed steel frame with bullhorns and disc brakes (custom made to his specs), his ti-89, and WOW.

So yea. . .

I'm quite content as a father.

Which one of you is more intelligent?

yeah you need Wrath of the Lich King to progress to level 80 content, the newer stuff is 80-85 and you need Cataclysm for that.

ignore the other idiots, if your kid does well in school, that's all you can ask for.

have to get both, saw a couple days ago that B&N had wrath for $20 and a couple other places have also had it on sale recently.
