Not to mention their superior 6 day turnaround time to keep it topical.

Err... Season3 was one of the best seasons. (1 + 2 + 3) It was before the break.

Season 1&2, 90% of episodes were great
Season 3, 65-70% were good
Season 4+, 50% at most

It seems that Seth MacFarlane is just playing up popular reaction to perceived "favourite" characters: Quagmire, greased-up deaf guy, evil monkey, etc... people that used to be great supporting characters and now are written into every episode and instead of creating new facets of their personalities just playing up their now-clichéd traits

It's kinda funny.. ever since Southpark made fun of Family Guy, Family Guy started to embody all those non-ideals that Southpark made fun of. The only humor at all comes from those flashbacks - "that reminds me of the time when..." Any plot, (not that a plot is really necessary), is merely there to tie those flashbacks together, and completely lacks any humor itself.

Southpark: Hitler dressed up as the "can you hear me now?" guy... lmao!
