You're selling junk. EXPENSIVE junk.

You reap what you sow.
It was an auction style listing. Had 25 people watching it and several bids. Another untested screen sold the other day for $440+55 shipping.

You reap what you sow would apply if I listed the item as like new in great condition.

So because the guy is a sex offender, ebay should rule on your side of the case?
I don't see how him being a sex offender should matter in the slightest way to ebay or whether or not he deserves a refund.
It's a moral victory... guys who sexually assault 11 year old girls should be locked away forever. That stuff doesn't get fixed by short prison stints.

Teehee... you made this thread gloating about an easy win and here you are.

Karma's a bitch huh?

I mean, you still should have won that one... I just have to point out such things.
UPDATE :

A call to ebay's appeals department quickly fixed the problem. The guy who helped me explained that the pederass was refunded in error. They refunded the money they'd deducted from my account, but unfortunately already refunded the dude...

So... he got refunded and I got refunded and I have no further obligation to the item. And the display is possibly en route to my house too.

Way to go ebay.

there really is no reason you didn't test this or report why you didn't want to test.

Should have been sold just as-is and mention you didn't want to risk trying it with the physical damage.

I'd screw him over for doing shit like that to you. He has 4+ items listed now. Be the winning bidder and leave him neg feedback. WIN!

So what happens when a buyer wins a paypal/ebay dispute?

Obviously paypal refunds the buyer, but do they first verify that they buyer sends the item back to the seller?

Welcome to ebay. As you learned the hard way, don't sell on it. Buying is fine since everything is so slanted towards the buyer you don't have to really worry.

When I had a problem with them and started doing some digging, ebay will pretty much every time side with the buyer regardless. The worst part is people know this and work the system. When the buyer disputes the item and ebay judges in the buyers favor the buyer has to ship the item back to the seller with a tracking number. Here is the catch, people would keep the item and mail an empty box back with the tracking. Seller would complain but as far as ebay/paypal is concerned you got the item back according to the tracking number. I can not even tell you the number of people I read that had this happen to them. Some buyers don't even mail back the box and just mail and envelop or the worst ones of all simply get a tracking number showing delivery done somewhere in your state.

I had someone try and do the last one and gave paypal/ebay a tracking number that showed delivered and they gave the buyer their money back. I contacted them telling them I didn't receive anything and further more the tracking number that they gave is for a city over 3 hours away from me. Thankfully they refunded me the money back and the whole thing was solved right then, but I nearly got screwed, but I had my own back up plan.

I used to buy a lot of as is stuff on ebay. I once bought an as is DS, that was just the empty casing, broken, no less. The seller basically said "too bad, it was listed as is."

I was mad.

I don't use ebay anymore and haven't for 4-5 years. Too much lying and BS on the site. When you ask a seller a specific question, they lie to you, and ebay/paypal sides with the seller it's time to quit using the site.
