This is amazing...

Ya, I know it is kinda old, but wow. You can record to a DVD from a camcorder, imagine what you could do with this (on the other hand, knowing some people here...dont imagine 😛) But really, the quality must be great and you can fit tons of video on one disc...That must be great. Anyone here used/have one of these or something similar. I would love to know if it is as good as it sounds. 🙂

*edit*

Competitor...

What about stuff like bumps and stuff?

With a VHS cam or mini-dv you could run around, go on rollercoasters, drive through rocks adn it wouldnt stop recording.

Wouldnt something like this get jolted around and skip easily?

Actually, I doubt the quality would be great. DVD requires MPEG compression, which is lossy compression. The quality is absolutely dependent on the CODEC in the camera, and if you want to do editing later, you've already got a lower quality video than the original.

I'd stick with MinDV, personally.

no problem. now i just need to justify in my mind to buy it or not. ah, who am i kidding... its only a matter of time. 😀

DivX codec DVD cam wouldn't work that well.

They'd have to use a codec that is compatible with DVD players, which DivX isn't (widely).
