I don't understand why you guys think it will be so expensive. Sure it's been in the works for years, but I think the only versions of this card that will be over the $200 mark are the usual platinum versions with breakout boxes and the like.

My beyerdynamic DT-880 are looking fordward too :) But they enjoy the m audio revolution card they are hooked up ATM even more (I guess).

Same here, got HD-600's too.... I am going to get the x-fi...just wondering which version to get thou.

Wow, i was about to pounce on one of those cheap 36 dollar audigy 2's...but hey i've been working all summer and My Klipsch's are screaming at me to get this. This should be a HUGE upgrade from my onboard sound.

As soon as a $150+ audio card produces as tangible a benefit as a $150+ video card to gaming I'll buy one. I'm no audiophile but I can hear differences between onboard sound and add ons. However, I just don't feel it's money well spent paying for such insanely expensive audio cards when the money can be better spent towards a video card or cpu. For those willing to spend roughly $100 for an audio card, the BlueGears HDA Digital X-Mystique looks like a good alternative to the Audigy and X-Fi lines from Creative.
