wow cool just found a pair of Denon bookshelf speakers

So I just found these in a cabinet that must have belonged to the former tenent that lived here. Each one has (what I assume to be) the standard + - plugs on the back. I want to hook this up to my sony Wega's audio out - would I need a receiver for that? Or can I run down to the local radio shack and buy a cable for each one that converts the + - into RCA?

I'm assuming the speakers have a spring clip or binding post (a metal post with a plastic or metal nut type of thing that screws over it). that can accept bare wire, and the TV has the RCA outputs.

If this is the case, you do need a receiver. The TV's RCA outs are line level so they need to be amplified to power the speakers. You would need a set of RCA cables and a set of speaker cables (unterminated bare wire should do in this case if the speakers use spring clips. If they are binding posts spade or banana terminated cables are better.)

Some TVs do have amplified speaker outputs, but most don't.

u need an amp.. so yes, atleast a reciever. line outs can barely power headphones
