I think for the most part, diet soda is sort of an acquired taste. It's similar to the people who like miracle whip over the real thing.

Any of that garbage screws with my gut in some of the most uncomfortable of ways, and sometimes results in me spending the next hour in the bathroom with up to another couple hours of great discomfort.

A little odd in a way since most stuff does not bother me in the slightest, no matter how refined or fake it is, but aspartame or sucralose both do me in, sucralose being the worse offender.

I'm very picky about my pop. Coke was always my drink, hated diets, hated Pepsi. But I started drinking Zero a few years ago too (for mixing). With rum (only way it gets consumed now) I can tell no difference.

I think Diet Coke was my "gateway" into the world of diet sodas. It's actually an odd story. I was sitting in a hotel room in Hollywood... Maryland... after a job interview, and I was feeling a bit parched. Now, this was back when I used to play World of Warcraft, and I recalled how my guild master would always go on and on about how she thought Diet Coke was the best thing since sliced bread and how it was as good as the normal stuff. I tried diet drinks in the past such as Diet Mountain Dew, but I never cared for them much; however, I figured that it couldn't hurt, so I gave it a try! It wasn't bad at all! Now, I tend to drink Coke Zero over Diet Coke, but I don't really notice a difference anyway. Actually, the only place where I absolutely refuse to get Diet Coke is at Five Guys. For some reason, their Diet Coke just tastes awful, and I absolutely have to get Coke Zero. I can drink it from the bottle without any qualms though.

Five Guys has a couple Coca-Cola Freestyle machines here.

I love regular Coke way more than Pepsi, but I agree. I like Pepsi Max better than Coke Zero.

And I'll also echo that Dr Pepper 10 is pretty good as well (waaaaay better than Diet Dr Pepper).

Used to be a decent diet soda drinker - and I have to agree that Coke Zero wasn't half bad.

However... I've take on a new dieting.. one where my drinks actually have calories. I have dropped all soda (Except an occasional Diet Monster for HORRIBLE nights of sleep) and opted to go for any juice that is 100% juice. It's actually worked pretty nicely, there are calories in juice, so you have to watch it. I can't speak for health nut retards that say drinking juice is going to somehow help you calorie wise, because last I checked a calorie is a calorie.

What I do with juice is fill up the cup with ice, then toss the juice in so that it gets a nice balance of water and juice to make it last longer.

I liked Coke Zero from the start... it's the gateway diet soda though: now I like all diet drinks.

In fact, I can no longer stand normal coke out of cans and bottles. If it's out of a machine, I still love it, but can/bottle coke must be in diet form. Effing addiction.

lol.. I somewhat agree. I started with Coke Zero, now I can drink Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Sprite with ease. Diet Coke still tastes bad, but not as horrible as I remember.

Big Red + breakfast tacos is one of the best food/drink combinations known to this green earth. Big Red and BBQ is a close second.
