WOW, braves trade away pitching for J. D. Drew and Eli Marrero

interesting. Marrero will fill in for Javy or Blanco depending on how fast estrada develops. J. D. Drew IF he can stay on the field will be better than Brian Jordan offensively but not as good as sheffield.

unfortunately they traded away Jason Marquis, Adam Wainright and Ray King. King we can do without, but wish we had kept wainright. 6'8" pitchers aren't easy to come by.

with the philthies i'll believe it when i see it happen. Larry Bowa just SUX as a manager. he'll find a way to piss off all his players and lose.

King was terrible. It was like batting practice when they put him in. The only guy they'll miss is Wainright; Marquis was okay but nothing special. The Braves always manage to get mediocre guys like Drew and make them good for at least a few years.

I have no doubt the Braves will win the division next year, like usual.

crap , Marquis and King? bummer

from all reports Wright is going to be the primary setup man so no need for King, letting go marquis is really interesting, but i think mazzone and cox just doesn't feel like Marquis is starter material.

what is it, 12 division wins in 13 years?? i think they deserve the benefit of the doubt until they ACTUALLY lose it.

You mentioned Jordan but that's just for comparison right? I don't think the Dodgers traded him but I might have missed it in all the activity. Man I wish that guy could stay healthy, he's an amazing athlete.

i mentioned jordan because he was the RF for the braves before Sheffield. 🙂

I just can't wait for fantasy baseball to start up again. Going to be an awesome year for fantasy. When do they usually start forming leagues?

baseball is a lot of fun. i prefer football, but football is pretty much over for me, only one of my teams made it to the playoffs. and it has a decent chance at winning.

So sad but true. What's up with you people not liking hockey ? Is it really that damn hard to follow the puck ?

to me, hockey is soccer on ice. except that the officials can't control hockey players the way they do in soccer.

Except the athletes are tough, there's 50-80 shots per game versus 5-10 (and who knows how many of those are on net), and every couple of minutes there's a big hit. Now, I can understand not liking regular season hockey, but come on, you have to like the playoffs at least.

This wasn't a very good trade for the Braves. I feel that they could have received something better than Drew+Marrero for Wainwright, King, and Marquis.
The bad thing is that if Drew does do what they're hoping he'll do, then he'll be receiving a massive raise the next year since his contract is only through next season.

Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Drew is healthy all season and hits for over a .900+ OPS and the Braves win the division again.

if the braves win their division again, or more accurately, if larry bowa manages to lose the division for the philthies, then he ABSOLUTELY should be fired. on paper the Philthies are CLEARLY the best team in the division.

Greg Maddux is going to San Diego.

they can have him. atlanta made the mistake of offering him arbitration last year. they should have let him go and not risked millwood like that.
