wow..big surprise..well, not really

1.never ever buy and sell computers to people.
2. if these customers think they "know something about computers" run away as fast as you can

I have just been yelled at by these customers and my parents, who evidently think "the customer is always right"

How did the problem begin. Well, I get disturbed in the morning on this beautiful sunday by people angry that their internet and printer aren't working when they were working when i left. I tell them to check the cables...they instantly assure me that all cables are connected. Then they proceed to launch aol. They are using their landline to talk to me, so obviously they will have to hangup. I tell them that I'll hangup, they'll need to dial aol, and give me a call using their cell phone/ I hang up. 30min later, when I had jsut gotten back to sleep ( ihad a long day yesterday) I get a call criticizing my customer service abilities for having hung up on them. I try to explain, and they retort with more critcism. I try to help them rememdy the situation, and they tell me that is to late and have to go...that I should have left things "working" when I left.

Appearantly scaning a printing a picture for their kids using their new equipment was not "good enough."

P.S. I also left their old printer hooked up, so if they would have let me speak, they would have been set either way.

wow, and to think how fantastic yesterday was in general, and how sh!tty today began....

hmmmmm...saturdays

That's when it's okay to stop being polite.

You tell them that it was working when you left and nothing you did could have made it stop working. Then you tell them it had to be something they did and that you aren't going to fix it. If they complain about how the customer is always right or some BS, you tell them, "That may be true, but, as far as I'm concerned you are no longer a customer of mine. Call me again and I will call the police and tell them you are harassing me.".. Then rejoice as you get to sleep in every Sunday morning for the rest of your life if you so choose to.

It doesn't matter what may happen or the fact that the police probably won't care... or the fact that you probably won't call... it's the fact that they are dumb enough to not know how to open an instruction manual to install computer equipment, so they are dumb enough to think you are serious.

people want the world for their money. Solution... don't go into the "business" of taking money from people.

And they're right--the consumer/customer always wins.

The most untrue statement ever. Sometimes it's better for both people to tell the customer how much of a jackass they are.

heh I used to own a computer shop. I can guarantee you that the customer is NOT always right. Sometimes you just need to tell them they are wrong and stick to your guns. It is not always worth having a customer such as them.

Family shouldn't b!tch at you like that - tell them to fvck off and come back when they have a clue about wtf is wrong.

OMG, I hope they aren't close family, otherwise you have a family full of assholes. I would seriously tell them you don't feel comfortable doing PC work for them anymore. Who cares about the why, just stop right away.

back when i used to work in a fast food place for a while in high school, i found out that about 95% of the time, the customer is wrong.
