Or they could have a mental condition a la "Memento" which necessitates them being constantly reminded of what weapons they own.

if you look at the screenshot, its clearly made for people who sell guns, like gun shops.

in which, if you aren't too afraid to enter one for fear of the guns jumping off the shelves and automatically shooting you (which apparently some idiots believe), you'll find that they usually have large inventories of guns which they must keep record/track of.
