From IMDB:

Oscar-winning star Gwyneth Paltrow is poised to become the daughter of Sir Anthony Hopkins - in a new movie about a troubled genius. The Silence Of The Lambs actor is expected to portray a brilliant mathematician who's forced to rely on his daughter after he goes mad in Proof. The big screen adaptation of David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play is due to start filming next month, according to reports.

yes, it is an adaptation of a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, but wow, how original. Who would have thought of a genius - who goes crazy. And he is a mathematician, too. That's really an original ya got there!

its a fantastic play. its really not about him, but about her and women (and their role) in mathmatics as a male-dominated field. they sell it that way becuase they know that formula works. you should really read or see the play. it was done at my school and it was pretty well put-together.
