Wow! A daily driver Kia I wouldn't mind owning...

yeah... the hamster commercials are what really won me over!

seriously though... i love that it's got good MPG, has a turbo, and STILL runs on 87 octane.

I'd prefer the Sonata turbo because I think Hyundai is a slightly better brand and it's the same powertrain.

Guy at my work has a new Optima & really likes it. I wasn't that impressed by the commercials, but it's a pretty sharp-looking car in person!

I have a 2011 Kia Soul on lease and LOVE it. It's like a better Saturn - inexpensive, with more features, and even better build quailty. Kia is really doing well these days!

i showed my buddy and he's going to test drive one after work. he's got an m35x right now that is racking up a lot of miles currently.

I love the exterior look.

I test drove the based model with a stick a while back. The gas pedal response with about 50% throttle in the first half inch of travel. That alone is practically ruled out the car for me. The steering seemed heavy but without much feedback. Overall, it was ok, but I didn't come away impressed.

Also, the interior of the base model was a substantial step down from the turbo.

optima is such a sharp looking car. I think the sonata is overstyled, but the optima's look is pretty timeless.

Kia is doing what Hyundai did some years ago, making it a legit competitor against Honda/Toyota. I don't think they're there quite yet, but they're getting close.

The car is very nice. However, the wheels are hideous on the turbo model and the lack of a lighter color interior option is a real problem for me (at least ventilated seats are an option).

Personally, I would consider it but I think I probably decide to save a little more money and get a Genesis Sedan instead.

😛

from the side it's a stretched IS350. meh. wheels are hideous too.

kia's quality ratings are still terrible. the tolerances are not up to hyundai's specifications.

Same company.
not really. hyundai has a controlling interest but kia still has a lot of independence. it's more like mazda and ford's relationship was.

It's kind of funny how strongly people hate the wheels. I actually like them. They aren't the best I've ever seen, but I think they look good.

Do cars not have presets for the radio anymore?

the presets will be on the touchscreen when not showing the map, its like this is most cars with touch screen displays. actually i think the torrent shows them even when the map is up

Trust me, the stick/clutch on the Sonata/Optima is terrible. My dad has one and as much as I love manuals, I would get the automatic in these cars.

I'm one of those militant stick shift morons.
I've adapted to some pretty horrible setups
😀

I like the Optima's looks pretty well on paper, but in real life it looks kind of strange. Similar to the current Maxima in that way - I thought that car looked great on paper, but in real life it's really ungainly IMO.

Except for the rims, I like the look of the Optima. Their quality though isn't yet up to Hyundai's standards so it's too bad the Sonata is so ugly.

This KIA, the GT concept debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt show, is the first KIA I found visually stimulating.
