Wouldn't this be freaking loud? -=pics=-

Are you sure? I thought so too. The only validity it has is that it's on the airport's website, which is not to say that the wesite designer didn't just go grab an image off the 'net and throw it up there.....

~whoops, it's not the actual airport site, but an aviation site...

Isn't there an island in the Carribbean that has a 747 come in once a week and they are that low? I have seen the video of it and there are a ton of pics. This could be real.

I don't think it is fake, there is a well known airport that brings planes in like that.

They frequently come in too low & clip the fence that lines the airstrip.

I've seen several shots just like this from the same location, I agree with ViperGTS, it's not a fake.

Something else though, it wouldn't be as loud as a jet taking off because the jets are at idle during most of their descent.

I'm pretty sure that's NOT photochopped. There is one island which has an airstrip along it's longest land stretch that is just long enough to allow 747s to land.

but right over a public beach? no way.

I have seen with my own eye's, planes that are like this on landing. However there are two points I would like to mention.

First is that before the landing strip, there should be Flant, and Marker lights some 250 yards out. I see non of those, nor trailing lights which connect to the main runway strip.

Second, you will notice that the glow of the ocean 'Green' is not aparent on the front bottom of the plane. Only the 'Sand' till the front quarter of the wings have that. Based on the glow and angle of the sun, one would think that there should be some sort of glow of the ocean there.

A side note to add is the quality of the pic. its rather beat up, and not clear in the landing section which could mean its been butched.

you can see more compression error's around the plane, than anywhere else on the image. Convert it to greyscale and you can see them more.

But I would venture to guess that this is a real photo.

Nope if it was a fake too this person a photoshop for, look at the shadow how it natually flows over the sand/water, and look at how the water is distorted.

that seems awfully retarded to me... that's not safe.. it would deafen people.

There is now that I look at this, one circumstantial peice of evidence pointing towards this being a fake. If you keep with me I will explain.

Take a look at the size of the plane. It is in fact a 747-300 (i am pretty sure), and look what angle the sun is at, and where the shadow on the beach from the plane is. it falls right between the two people there. Now look at how large the people and the car is, compared to where the shadow is, and the plane itself. If you look a the window size on the plane, and compare the window size, the shadow, the cars, and the people, its easy to tell that the plane seems kind of 'Small' in comparison to how low it is, and what objects are around. This could be an optical illusion put on by the camera and depending on what the camera lens is. You will notice that the shadow is not stretched, and falls between the two people closest to the water. Between the one that is bending its knee's and the next further person down.

They're not really as loud as you'd think until they throw the engines in reverse after touchdown. Not every country/landing strip has the regulations that the FAA has put down. Plus, if there actually is an airport that close to the beach, it's probably only a few feet above sea level anyhow. It would be fairly easy to come in that low using the instruments because you'd land just before your altimeter hits just above zero.
