Would you...?

So, would you?

I've read that this PSU is pretty anemic. Weak amperes line, etc. But it can handle my x1950 Pro with no issues, which demands a lot of juice. There's even a guy here on this board with an OCed Phenom rig, 8800GT, 2 HDD, etc, and the TR2 PSU. So I'm a bit torn...

So, would you? 😀

what's the amps? better yet, what is tdp on that x1950 pro? the 4850 is 110w, as long as they're close you shoudl be ok.

The x1950 Pro is around 65w in Full 3D mode. Oops...

Me thinks I won't. What's the TDP in a 8800GT?

EDIT: According to some sites, it's around 105-110 watts... And that guy with the Phenom rig and 2 HDDs could handle all of it with a TR2... By straight logic it sounds OK to try an 4850 on my rig unless I'm missing something here. My rig is pretty basic, 1 HDD, 1 DVD-RW, not many extra gimmicks.

With only one 18a +12v rail I wouldn't risk it. I'm running a 3870 which has a similar TDP to the 4850 off of a 400 watt PSU but my PSU has over 30 amps combined between its two +12v rails.

I'm tempted to try it. I have a TR2-430W, and I just picked up a pair of HD4850 GPUs at BB. I also picked up a pair of Antec EarthWatts 650W PSUs at Microcenter for $70 ea.

I have a 400W AOpen with a 23A combined on the 12V rails. Very tempted to see if an HD4850 will run. If not, I guess I'll just get a 450W with 18A per rail...
