Would you vote for someone just because they went to your high school?

Opening the mail yesterday I received as many of us do, some yahoo's election campaign letter. Only this time the guy went to my high school and it was specifically sent to me because of that reason.

Now really, would anyone give someone an edge just because they went to your high school?

Not that I went to a bad one at all but it sure wont effect my vote.

Would it effect you?

Depends on how I remember them. But most importantly, it's what their agenda is and where they stand on issues.

Depends on how I remember the person. Looking back only a few years, I had very strong feelings for a lot of people, I either felt like they were my brother or I absolutely couldn't stand them. If it was a person I liked I would probably give them an edge in my choice.

I'm not from Tennessee, but look at what Gore's state did to him in the election. Should show you that hometown loyalty wouldn't effect a lot of people.

Say you had no idea who he/she was. Exmaple. This guy graduated in 82. I graduated in 94.

I wouldn't vote for somebody just because we know each other, went to the same school, etc.

Voting is a fulfilling a responsibility to the nation, county, city... whatever... not a friend. If the friend is not on the right track with the best interests of the nation, county, city...whatever ... then no, I wouldn't vote for him.

my congressman went to my high school, and before he was elected, he helped coach my academic decathalon team. He was nice guy, almost too friendly. That being said, I would never vote for him because he's a demokrat, and shares the beliefs of the demokrat party (free stuff to loafers, baby murdering, etc...)

Heh, I graduated in '85. 😛

Woohoo! Yaahaa! HEHEHHEHEHE!

Everybody who went to my high school was an idiot, so I'd use this as a reason NOT to give them my vote. 😉

Texmaster, you graduated in 94? I would never have guessed, I figured you for older. I graduated in 94 too.

Where did i hear this..... don't know, but it's good..

If you're young and a republican, you're heartless. If you're old and NOT a republican, you're stupid.

Just a little insight on texmaster.

only 26. wow.... the way he talks, you'd think he'd be older because he seems to know the answer to everything.

Some would say that this is a sign that a person is young. Or perhaps that only applies to people who think they have the answer to everything. There's not much of a difference in my mind.

Yea, I would. If he/she was running for student council/president. 😀

It's not surprising that you would receive a letter like that, for some people they might be somewhat swayed by that kind of thing, but it wouldn't be enough for me. I'm pretty sure Hillary didn't have a campaign with that kind tactic. 🙂

I have an answer to everything, doesn't mean I'm always right 😉. (even if it is a large portion of the time 😀 )

If I was sure it was always the right one, I wouldn't join or start debates here 🙂
