Nice topic.
I have AthlonXP 1800 with ECS K7S5A.

This summer, I think I'm going to get EPOX + Barton 2500.

The thing that conserns me is, how much longer are AMD going to use Socket A for? Cos for all i know, i could upgrade to a nForce2, and then a few months later, and completely new AMD standard platform will come out. Rendering the upgrade capibility pretty much limited.

You will need a new board for the AMD64's. My guess is they wont be cost effective enough for the poor fools like us to upgrade too for well over a year from not. They wont be cheap enough for me to do it anyway until at least by then.

I agree with BoomAM on this one. I just got a XP2500, but that's after having a P2 400 notebook since 1999. This thing is plenty fast for me, probably will be for quite some time. The only problem I had with the lappy was that it wouldn't play ANY games. Rainbow 6 was clicky, but it still did everything I needed it to do otherwise. However, I would like to replay a quote I read somewhere linked off of sandpile.org, "You are the one who makes the computer obsolete." I may catch hell for this post, so be it. The problem is, when you read so many reviews, you really get thinking, "Wow that would be awesome to have." GeForce 3 all the way baby! eheh

If I had that system I'd be upgrading the CPU, RAM (go to DDR) and the motherboard.

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 40.2 GB @ 7200 RPMS (c: = 20gb, d: = 40gb)
IBM DeskStar 40GXP 20.4GB 5400RPM (z: = 20gb)
Ouch. I hope you run regular backups. ;)

The Z:/20gb is a backup drive bty.
I have copyed my XP CD to it, have my documents/email/mp3/downloads on it, the latest drivers for all of my hardware, and the latest versions of all of my software.
Just noticed a typo on the maxtor, both c: & d: are 20gb. C: is for windows/programs, d: is for games.

BFG10K, ive noticed a error on your rig profile.
You put 1048mb of memory, when it should be 1024mb, asuming that all that is physical memory, and not including virtual.

I wouldn't. You said that everything runs well. Why do it, unless you just want to for the sake of it.
