Excellent fitness in doctor does not equal to brilliant doctor. I've worked with a lot of them at the top and let me tell you, its a small but rare set of mental qualities/traits that determine success. The people who eat properly will most likely have better organizational skills and a more systematic approach to patient diagnosis and treatment. Fat, sloppy, disorganized most likely has Rt. cerebral hemisphere dominance and a good memory.
Every doctor I have known has been out of shape, except for very young ones that are usually in hospitals, not private practice.
There is a really fat doctor at a clinic I go to when I have a sore throat. He always give me lortab scripts for it :awe:. I wouldn't trust him with anything more serious.
In theory doctors should be role models for good health, but in reality I realize that a physician can be good at his job and still live an unhealthy lifestyle.
Edit: There are limits to this. A doctor who's so fat and out of shape that he'd get winded walking down the hall would be suspect in my eyes.
If he was a nutrionalist or something than probably not. But any other normal type doctor sure. As long as he knows his shit who cares what his body looks like.

Doctors tend to have money. I would guess that some doctors like to eat good food. I would also guess that some doctors like to eat a lot of good food.
Now, if we're talking about a 350lb doctor, that's one thing. But a doctor that has a gut, love handles, and that sort of thing, I don't see that as a problem.
I differentiate between fat and obese. It's pretty easy to be fat with the lifestyle we live in the US. But people who are obese show a serious lack of self control and disregard for their own health. It does reflect on their personality, judgement, and self discipline.
