Would you trade an $8,000.00 car for a $4,000.00 car and a $4,000.00 bike?

I am thinking about doing this, I have had my 2000 mustang v6 convertible for a year and a half, its nice but I am getting bored with it, I can take it to carmax whenever I want and leave with a check for $8,000.00

I really only bought the car because it was a great deal at the time, it was less than three years old and had just twenty thousand miles on it, I got it for $10,000.00 and paid it off a couple of weeks after I bought it, it now has thirty thousand miles on it.

I still need a car for bad weather and going out with my wife(she has her own car) and son(who would like to be a passenger on a bike, but I dont think its a good idea)

Heh, found this site while checking out some bikes http://www.sellharleys.com/

Yes, I would.

edit:
For a first bike you can spend way less than 4k. Get a ninja 500, or GS500 for 2k and a 6k car. Or just keep your car. You prolly get ragged on all the time over teh v6 stang though.. so I dunno

It seems like there's a huge difference between $4000 cars and $8000 cars. Even getting a Civic under 4k usually means a lot of years or a lot of miles, and usually both.

I'd just start saving up on the side and get a bike when I could. You've got a decent low-mileage vehicle, I wouldn't let it go to waste.

ha harley for 4K .... good one. That thing will cost you that much to maintain.

If you can't ride, i wouldn't spend that much money on it. Just save up some cash and get a used cruiser for ~2K tops. Odds are you will dump it, so might as well make it cheap

Heh, I wouldnt want to ride a Harley I could afford :p

As I look around more, I am seeing that the type of bike I am looking for can be had for 2k to 4k, so I the new plan is to save a little and pay down some bills and not give up the car(which is paid for) and see what is available around september.

If you meant a bicycle, I'd say yes. A bicycle would probably depreciate slower than a car.

I'd sell the Mustang and get a cheaper car. Instead of a $4,000 motorcycle, buy each family member a nice bicycle instead or some rollerblades. That way, everyone has fun, stays healthy, promotes family time together, and you drive a safe 4-wheel vehicle that can take a winter without problems and also serve as a family car.

I'm thinking along the lines of a Neon or late 90's/early 2000's Honda of some sort. Maybe a Chevy Malibu or something, too. Look around and see what fits the bill!

Me, no - though I do know of someone who had a $4,000 bicycle with a ~$500 junker car. Always funny seeing that on the roof rack.

Hell no, I can't stand motorcycles.
I lost a cousin and uncle due to motorcycle accidents.
